Jordan Brand Gifts Kobe Full Set of Air Jordans

What do you get the man with his own line of basketball shoes? For the Jordan Brand, a division of Nike, the answer was simply: more shoes.

But these are far from just any kicks. On Friday in Toronto for All-Star Weekend, Jordan Brand President Larry Miller presented Kobe Bryant with a full set of the 30 shoes that compose the Air Jordan line.

Named after Bryant’s friend and mentor, Michael Jordan, Jordan Brand considered the collection a retirement gift right before the Lakers legend’s final All-Star Game on Sunday.

“The Jordan Brand is about more than basketball, it’s about leaving a legacy and honoring those who have left a legacy,” Miller said. “Tonight the brand was able to honor one of the game’s great players and the legacy that he created.”

Each sneaker in Bryant’s gift came in white, including the Air Jordan III and Air Jordan VIII — worn by Bryant on the court in 2002-03 — which featured purple and gold accents.

Bryant — who has been giving away shoes himself lately — was also given a matching set in all black, which will be auctioned off for charity. The bidding begins on eBay on Saturday at 9 a.m. PT and continues for 24 hours.
