A Game 7 for the Ages = Title Number 16:
June 17 @ STAPLES Center, Finals Game 7

With everything on the line for the NBA’s two most prominent franchises, the Lakers quickly erased a 13-points deficit in the third quarter after shooting the ball horribly throughout the first three quarters, and ultimately rallied behind stars Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol – with a healthy dose of Ron Artest – to claim a 83-79 victory.

Bryant and Gasol made only 10-of-34 shots through three quarters before rallying to combine for 19 points and 10 rebounds in the fourth, while Artest scored 20 points and nailed a massive three-pointer with 1:01 remaining in the game.

The Lakers controlled the glass, 53-40, to make up for an immense struggle from the field in which they shot 32.5 percent and missed 12 free throws. L.A. also got a big three-pointers from Game 3 hero Derek Fisher. The final whistle brought with it purple and gold confetti in STAPLES Center, signifying the Lakers as champions of basketball for the second consecutive season.
