Derek Fisher Day - March 5th, 2008

Wednesday March 5th, 2008 was officially declared "Derek Fisher Day" in the city of Los Angeles in honor of all the things the long-time Lakers guard has done as a member of the community.

City Councilman Bernard Parks was the driving force behind Derek Fisher Day.

"He made sports history when he missed the first championship game due to the illness of his daughter, but then he arrived in the fourth quarter of the second game and just in time to score the winning three-point basket, which proves not only his commitment to his family but also the commitment to his team," Parks said.

This is Fisher's first season back with the team he spent his first eight NBA seasons with.
