LAKERS vs. SEATTLE IN THE PRESEASON
After returning to the mainland after nearly two weeks of training camp in Hawaii, the Lakers will resume their preseason schedule on October 18 against the Seattle Sonics in Bakersfield, CA. It will be the Lakers and Sonics 37th preseason meeting in a series dating back to 1968 when the two teams met in San Francisco, CA. The Lakers currently hold a 20-16 advantage in their preseason series with Seattle and have won four of their last five preseason meetings with the Sonics. The two teams’ most recently met in the preseason last October 12, with the Lakers defeating Seattle 104-101 in Anaheim, CA.

LAKERS IN BAKERSFIELD
The Lakers preseason relationship with Bakersfield dates back to the 1999-00 season when Los Angeles faced the Miami Heat on October 24, 1999. After a one year hiatus, the Lakers returned the following five preseasons (2001-05) and will play for the seventh time in Bakersfield October 18, 2007 against the Seattle Sonics. In six preseason games in Bakersfield since 1999, the Lakers are 4-2 overall.

    PRESEASON
    Last year, the Lakers split their eight preseason contests 4-4 after going 6-2 in their previous two preseasons. Since the first year of complete preseason records in 1982-83, the Lakers best preseason finish was a 7-1 mark in 1987-88. Under head coach Phil Jackson, the Lakers have had just one winning preseason, going 6-2 in 2005-06. Under Jackson, the Lakers have registered preseason records of 4-4 (2006-07), 6-2 (2005-06), 3-5 (2003-04), 4-4 (2002-03), 4-4 (2001-02), 3-5 (2000-01) and 3-5 (1999-2000).
