Getting J-Peezy to opine on the latest from the music world was long overdue, so we had Powell join us at the close of L.A.’s eight-game road trip to talk about the Grammy Awards (Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Taylor Swift), Canadian artists (Drake), some favorite tracks (“My Time” by Fabolous) and more.

Playlist #7: 09/10 Blueprint
Published November 8, 2009 | Length: 17:22 | Size: 8.3 MB
Only a few months have gone by since our previous podcast with Josh Powell (you know, J-Peezy’s Playlist) but the Lakers reserve power forward certainly made the most of his time.

First came a championship ring (decent), and then the addition of about 5,000 songs to his 20,000+ iPod collection (legit).

That established, L.A.’s locker room DJ joined us from his hotel room in Oklahoma City to discuss some of his favorite new tunes, to review Jay-Z’s latest album (The Blueprint III), explain how to pronounce the artist Gucci Mane’s name and handicap some of his Laker teammates in term of musical talent.

Give it a listen.

J-Peezy sat down with us to figure out what song each Lakers player would come out to were they given a 15-second clip in introductions, and then explained what each tune said about that player’s musical taste. Take a listen.

During the Lakers six-game road trip, we stopped by Powell’s room to talk mostly about hip-hop before moving onto some R&B and classic rock. Powell also offered some of his current favorite songs that might improve our playlist, and then challenged Lakers Reporter Mike Trudell to a Guitar Hero contest that he wants to put on YouTube. So we’ll get to that later.
