Laker Girl Blog - Rebekah

Hey Lakers Fans!

My name is Rebekah and this is my second season as a Los Angeles Laker Girl! I'm so happy to be back on the team for another exciting season after such an incredible first season last year with (in my opinion) the best NBA organization ever!

As the holiday season approaches, we have many games and events on the rise. Tuesday, November 19th, some of us Laker Girls headed to a charity event in Los Angeles. It's always so nice to meet fans that aren't able to make it to the games physically, so I love that we are able to visit a variety of care facilities to take pictures/sign photos for patients, their families and staff. Lakers games are such a thrill but giving back to the community is a large part of being a Laker Girl which exudes the same amount of excitement for all of us.

Sometimes weekends are full of Lakers events, like Saturday, November 23rd. So I started my morning off with a coffee from Carl’s Jr. and a made from scratch sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich……breakfast is my favorite meal of the day! After breakfast, I headed to an event where some of us took part in a turkey give-away, where many families received a turkey, pumpkin pie and a blanket for their Thanksgiving Holiday.

These family members also had the chance to meet Lakers players Jordan Hill and Ryan Kelly. We signed photos and took pictures with the fans able to make it out that morning as they received their holiday goodies from all of us – it was a lot of fun! Directly after that event, a few of us were scheduled for an appearance at the 2013 L.A. Auto Show. The Auto Show was taking place the L.A. Convention Center and we were scheduled to be at this event on behalf of Toyota, a Lakers sponsor. While there, we had the chance to interact with the fans. On stage, we answered questions they all had for us and gave out photos to fans as they got to peruse the Toyota exhibit.
Now, this particular Saturday marked the opening game for the Los Angeles D-Fenders. (which is a part of the NBA D-League) So, after the Toyota appearance I headed to our training facility in El Segundo for the home opener, Yay! We, the Laker Girls, perform at all the D-fenders home games in El Segundo. I hope some of you fans try to make it out to one of these games, they are so much fun!

The following week we had rehearsal as usual, but luckily we had the Thanksgiving Holiday day off, as the Lakers team went on the road for games on the east coast.
I hope everyone of you had a very Happy Thanksgiving Holiday!

After the holiday, we had a home game against the Portland Trail Blazers…… it sure was an exciting game with a couple of amazing comebacks, even though we fell a bit short in the outcome. It sure was fun to be there and feel the excitement from the crowd! Now, with a game as exciting as last night, I'm so anxious for the rest of the season and what is in store.

Keep cheering us on Lakers Fans and stay tuned!

Go Lakers!!!
