Laker Girls Blog 11/15/10 - Dara
Hey Laker Fans! My name is Dara and after an intense Laker Girls audition this past summer, I made it back for my second year as a Los Angeles Laker Girl! I am originally from Friendswood, Texas. I started dancing when I was about 8 years old. I never in a million years thought I would be dancing for (and cheering on) the L.A. Lakers, so I am so grateful to say this is my second season with this organization. I am sure many believe that once you are on the squad you are a “shoe in” for the following season, but that is not the case. All returning Laker Girls have to re-audition every year and honestly the second year felt more stressful than the first. When you are a returning Laker Girl, I feel the pressure is higher and there are more expectations of you. So, at the auditions I tried to pretend like it was my first time all over again, and that seemed to be very beneficial for me……I am so glad to be back!
Hopefully, you have all been keeping up with our “Back to Back” NBA Champion Lakers and that undefeated record they started the season off with; I thought my first year was fun, but that was even more exciting. Obviously we are not undefeated any more, but that doesn’t mean a three-peat is not in our future! I don’t know about anyone else, but I am ready for another amazing parade!
On another note, we produced our second Laker Girls swimsuit calendar this season!! In fact, the Lakers and FSN partnered up again and will be publicizing it this week. As well as premiering the show, “Making of the Laker Girls Calendar,” on FSN after the Lakers vs. Chicago game on November 23rd. (after the FSN post game show). So tune in to watch it, or set your DVR’s! The show captures the behind the scenes of the photo shoot and some experiences that came along with it! This was my second calendar shoot with the Laker Girls and it was so much fun! The best part about it was bonding with my new teammate Melissa because we did our photo shoot together. When this year’s Laker Girls squad shot the calendar, it was early on for us as a team, so we were all still getting to know one another. I feel the time spent together at this shoot, was the perfect opportunity to bond as teammates. Now, I have to confess, after a long day at our calendar swimsuit photo shoot, that evening, I was so glad to go to Carl’s Jr. and try the amazing chicken strips and the Cranberry, Apple, Walnut, Chicken Salad! If you haven’t had either of those items, it is a MUST!
Well, thanks for being such great Lakers fans - keep cheering on our L.A. Lakers!!
