Dec 6 2005 11:15AM
Thursday, October 20th marked the Lakers’ first time back at STAPLES Center for the preseason. Not only did fans get a chance to check out the new Lakers team in action, but in recognition of October as Disability Awareness Month, Laker fans also watched the entire Fast Breakin’ Lakers wheelchair basketball team scrimmage against each other at halftime. The Fast Breakin’ Lakers’ Purple and Gold teams received a warm welcome as they rolled onto the court, and they entertained the crowd with a fast and competitive game that even included a three-pointer!

The Fast Breakin’ Lakers have been playing the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) since 1969. This past season, the team finished second in the NWBA’s Far West Regionals. On Saturday, October 22nd the team participated in a wheelchair basketball tournament in Maywood, CA, and won both of their games as they defeated the Rancho Renegades by a score of 55-51 and the Los Angeles Clippers Chairmen by a score of 55-35.

Thank you to the Fast Breakin’ Lakers for sharing the court at the preseason opener.
