Proceeds from Camp Lakers benefit the Lakers Youth Foundation: The Lakers Youth Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 organization and the official team charity of the Los Angeles Lakers. The Foundation’s mission is to help underserved youth develop their potential by providing positive experiences and resources in education, health and wellness, and sports. The Foundation also awards grants to other charities that support youth through direct services and programs in these areas.
What is the cancellation policy?
Personal checks will NOT be accepted after June 1. There will be a $75.00 administration fee for any cancellation prior to June 1st. After June 1st there will be NO REFUNDS!
How do they group the kids?
The kids are grouped by age and skill level.
What are the age limits
Boy and girls between the ages of 9-18.
What do the campers do at Camp Lakers?
Campers spend the majority of their time playing basketball. On Monday, campers are placed on teams based on age and ability. Those teams compete throughout the week, with several games played each day. In addition, campers participate in offensive and defensive drills, watch film, and hear presentations from guest speakers. On Friday, campers take a field trip to the Lakers practice facility.
How many campers attend the camp?
Space is limited to provide each camper with direct coaching attention. There are approximately 220 campers at each camp session.
Who does the actual coaching?
Former Laker and current Lakers scout Irving Thomas directs the coaching of the camp. The coaching staff is made up of Lakers coaching staff and former basketball players at high school, collegiate or professional level.
