Camp Lakers FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you provide transportation?
A:
No, parents are required to bring their child to camp, check them in and also check them out.

Q: What if my child turns 9 years old after the camp dates?
A:
We will accept your child, as long as he/she turns 9 in the same calendar year as the camp.

Q: When do you usually sellout?
A:
Spaces are fillling up fast and we will likely sellout earlier this year than in past years, so book your space soon so you won't miss out. Generally, we sellout in late May, but we cannot guarantee that it will not sellout sooner this year. You may call or email us around that time to see if we still have openings.

Q: I sent in my application and tuition payment for my child. When and how will I know if my child has been accepted?
A:
We will mail out a confirmation package to you with all pertinent information. Due to the high volume of mail we receive, please allow 2-3 weeks for the packet.

Q: What kind of supervision do campers receive?
A:
Campers are always supervised by their own coach during the day.

Q: Is there any medical/training staff at the camp?
A:
We have an athletic training staff, which includes a Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer, on duty at all times.

Q: What is on the menu?
A:
Box lunch is provided (pizza, sandwiches, etc.)

Q: If my child has special meal requirements such as allergies to certain food, eating Kosher or being a vegetarian, what do I do?
A:
The camper will need to bring his/her own lunch.

Q: Can my child bring electronic games, MP3 players, television, etc.?
A:
We do not recommend bringing anything of value. We will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.

Q: Does my child need extra money at camp and where should he keep it?
A:
No money is needed.

Q: Will my child be at a disadvantage if he is not very good?
A:
Campers are assigned to leagues based on both age & ability thru a draft process on the first day of camp. We try to keep each team to a maximum of eight players and each camper will play the same amount of time in each game.

Q: Can my child move up or down in leagues?
A:
On the first day, after the coaches have evaluated the talent and drafted the teams as evenly as possible, they will ask some children whether they would like to move up, move down or stay in the same league.

Q: May I change my session?
A:
You are able change your session(s) at anytime as long as space is available in the session of your choice. Please contact us by phone or email with your request.

Q: Can I cancel my registration?/What is the refund policy?
A:
If you cancel at least three weeks prior to the first day of that session, you may receive a refund less $150.00 administration fee. There will be no refund if cancellation occurs less than three weeks before camp begins. No exceptions as camp will be sold out! Campers who must leave due to illness or injury will receive a prorated refund based on the number of days they attended. No refunds will be given to campers who voluntarily leave camp (i.e. - Homesickness, Unsportsmanlike Behavior).

Q: Where is the coaching staff from?
A:
The coaches are from many states with different levels of experience-college, high school and middle school.

Q: Who are the Guest Speakers?
A:
There is generally one speaker each day (Current or former Lakers players/coaches). Due to players' off-season schedules, we will not know who will appear until we are in session at camp.

Q: Where do most of the kids come from?
A:
Most campers are from the Southern CA area. However, campers have come from all different states and countries. We have kids from CA, NY, CT, NM, NV, HI, WA, FL, TX, UT, Mexico, Germany, France, Italy, Israel, Egypt, just to name a few.

Q: May I visit the camp during the week?
A:
NO. Parent visitation will be limited to drop off only except for the afternoon on the last day. With a lack of viewing space and for the safety of the kids and coaches we would ask parents to adhere to our no interaction policy once they are participating in the camp. On the last day we will pull out bleachers in the afternoon for parents to view.

Q: What time is registration on the first day?
A:
From 8:30am to 9:30am. If you happen to be running late, please do not worry. We will register your child with no problems when you do arrive. We would rather you travel safely than to rush.

Q: Will there be any activities on the first day?
A:
We will begin play on the first day. That will include evaluating players in each age group and making up teams as evenly as we can.

Q: What time should I pick up my child?
A:
Camp dismissal is at 3:45pm to 4:00pm each day. We don't offer extended hours so parents are required to pick up their kids on time. If the pick up time is neglected campers may be asked not to come back the rest of the week without receiving a refund. Parents are welcome to watch the playoff games at 1:15pm and the awards ceremonies at approximately 3:00pm on the last day.

Q: What is the parking situation at the camp?
A:
Parents may park in the school parking structure.

Q: When is the Medical Health Form due that came in the confirmation packet?
A:
The Medical Health Form must be signed by the child's physician and brought to the first day of camp. NO ONE CAN PARTICIPATE IN CAMP WITHOUT A SIGNED MEDICAL HEALTH FORM. Please do not send us the form in the mail!
