6th Annual "Freedom Through My Eyes" Art and Essay Contest
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Lakers Youth Foundation are excited to announce our 6th Annual “Freedom Through My Eyes” Art & Essay Contest which offers Los Angeles County middle school students the chance to earn the field trip of a lifetime!
The contest is open to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in Los Angeles County, and the goal of the contest is to encourage students to explore the meaning of liberty and our nation’s symbols of freedom. To enter, students are asked to be creative in using their writing and drawing skills to express what freedom means to them.
Up to five lucky winners, along with one parent/legal guardian for each winner, and adult chaperones from the Los Angeles Lakers will fly to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 for an exciting 5 day/4 night adventure exploring first-hand some of our nation’s famous monuments and museums!
To enter, please review the “Freedom Through My Eyes” Official Rules (pdf). Your entry must include:
- 1. Student’s essay
- 2. Student's artwork which relates to the student's essay
- 3. A completed Student Information/Release and Authorization Form
All entries must be received by the Los Angeles Lakers by 5:00 pm PST on Monday, January 30, 2012. Winners will be notified on or before Friday, February 3, 2012, 7:00 pm PST and at that time, be given specific traveling instructions and trip details.
