Metta drops by the first “Lakercitos” Basketball Clinic

On Saturday, Metta World Peace surprised a group of 100 Junior Lakers and their parents with a visit to a basketball clinic in Hawthorne. The clinic was the first in of a series of “Lakercitos” clinics offered by the Lakers Youth Foundation in partnership with Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes. Long time Lakers broadcaster Stu Lantz MC-ed the event along with the new Spanish voices of Time Warner Deportes, Francisco Pinto and Adrian Garcia Marquez. Beginning next season, Time Warner Cable will serve as your one home for all Lakers games, with English broadcasts on Time Warner SportsNet and Spanish broadcasts on Time Warner Deportes.

At the clinic, the Junior Lakers were given instruction on defense, rebounding and sportsmanship from Daryl Roper and the Rising Stars of America basketball coaches. The Junior Lakers also received an assortment of prizes and a Junior Lakers t-shirt. The Lakers and Time Warner would like to thank the City of Hawthorne and Hawthorne Police Explorers for their assistance in organizing the first Lakercitos clinic.
