Lakers Team Up Event: Volunteers of America
The Lakers staff, coaches and Laker Girls tipped-off the Lakers Team Up employee service initiative at the Volunteers of America Transition House in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Each guest received a Lakers gift bag filled with a Lakers t-shirt, water bottles from 710 ESPN and a hand-knit scarf prepared by the Volunteers of America’s Knitting Circle of Friends. Guests were also treated to lunch provided by Jersey Mike’s Subs and Melissa’s World Variety Produce. After lunch, the coaches and Laker Girls were able to socialize with the participants. They took pictures and signed autographs in the Transition House’s newly renovated garden.
This was the first of several events in the Lakers Team Up employee service campaign. At Lakers Team Up events, the Lakers organization will be partnering with local and national non-profit organizations to serve the Los Angeles community. Events will take place on days in which the Lakers were scheduled to play home games at STAPLES Center, as well as additional dates throughout the year. Lakers Team Up will touch everything from homelessness to education to environmental clean-up, and is part of the team’s continuing drive to be champions on the court and in the community.
