NBA STARS FACE OFF IN FIRST-EVER NBA CARES CHARITY CHALLENGE

[UPDATE] May 10, 2010 -- Congratulations to Pau Gasol for winning the inaugural NBA Cares Charity Challenge! Pau received 38% of the fan votes to win $10,000 for UNICEF. The donation will help Pau reach his goal of building schools in Africa to provide children with much needed educational and athletic opportunities.

Fans had the opportunity to vote for their favorite player/charity through the NBA’s Facebook fan page. Carmelo Anthony, Steve Nash, and Dwyane Wade each received $5,000 for their charity of choice. Thank you to all the Lakers fans who voted for Pau and UNICEF!

[Original Post]: NBA All-Star Pau Gasol is participating in the first-ever NBA Cares Charity Challenge and he needs your help! Pau is competing against NBA All-Stars Carmelo Anthony, Steve Nash, and Dwyane Wade for fan support via the league’s Facebook fan page in an attempt to win $10,000 for his favorite charity, UNICEF.

Beginning today and continuing through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, fans can view videos featuring all four players and each working with his charity of choice. Throughout the weeklong program, fans will be able to vote for one of the four player's videos on the NBA’s Facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/nba). The player that collects the most fan support will win $10,000 for his selected charity, while the other three charities will receive a $5,000 donation.
