When the children arrived at the Lakers practice facility they were surprised to find a room filled with foosball tables, skeeball machines, pop-a-shot basketball, X-Box games and a "dancing head" green screen! After enjoying a special holiday lunch, the Laker Girls arrived to hand out t-shirts to the entire group. Children had the opportunity to get
autographs and take pictures with the entire Lakers team and the Laker Girls. Some children joined a Laker in a game of Foosball or X-Box, while others challenged their favorite player to Skeeball and Pop-A-Shot. Crowds gathered around as players Trevor Ariza, Jordan Farmar, and Sasha Vujacic joined the children in making their own “dancing head” green screen music video! Each child took an individual photo with Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher, which was placed in an ornament shaped like a snowflake, to take with them as a souvenir.
Certain guests of the party were asked to “host” Lakers TV and ask the players what the holidays meant to them. “Christmas means giving and sharing to me,” said Lakers guard, Kobe Bryant. Other players shared their holiday wishes. Sasha, who is hoping for a win against the Phoenix Suns on Christmas Day, said “It will be a great gift for everyone!”
Just before a dessert of ice cream sundaes, the players and Laker Girls handed out fleece blankets, goodie bags, foam fingers, pennants, hats and mini basketballs to each child.
The Lakers would like to thank East West Bank, La Casa de San Gabriel Community Center and the Asian Youth Center for helping make this holiday party possible.
