Tourists for the Day with the New York Knicks

On a beautiful New York City afternoon, two of the newest Knicks players took a double decker bus tour of New York City with 30 children from Garden of Dreams partner organization, WHEDco. Metta World Peace, a native New Yorker, and Andrea Bargnani of Italy headed to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, October 15 to meet the youngsters atop a CitySights New York tour bus. At first sight of the players, the children showed their excitement as they immediately erupted into a “Let’s Go Knicks” chant to welcome their new Knicks friends.

During the bus tour, they saw some of New York’s most renowned landmarks such as Central Park, Columbus Circle and Times Square, and while native Metta World Peace pointed out landmarks such as the Empire State Building, newcomer Andrea Bargnani gazed up at the skyscrapers with

the children. To get into the New York spirit, the players gifted each child a gift bag including Statue of Liberty foam crowns which they all donned throughout the trip. Hitting the lights of Times Square, the children once again proudly chanted “Let’s Go Knicks” – only this time led by the Knicks players themselves!

Painting the city blue and orange through their New York Knicks cheers, the group gained the attention of tourists as they reached their final destination, John’s Pizzeria in Times Square. Inside the restaurant, they found the upstairs of John’s Pizzeria set up for a VIP with specialized menus, New York City themed goodies and a delicious four-course Italian dinner of salad and garlic bread, pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and cannolis!
