In 1994, Patrick Ewing and his counterpart on the Rockets, Hakeem Olajuwon, staged an epic battle in the NBA Finals, in which Ewing blocked a then-record 30 shots in the series. It was a rematch of the two titans’ head-to-head clash in the 1984 NCAA championship game, with Ewing’s Georgetown University defeating Olajuwon’s University of Houston. In 2008, the two big men shared plenty of laughs together as they were inducted side by side into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
