What’s up Knicks fans!
I’ve had a few computer issues so sorry for the lack of entries.
Anyway, I’m blogging from the team plane following our tough loss to the Bulls tonight. It was good to chill in the Chi for a couple days in my old stomping grounds when I played for DePaul, but wish we coulda pulled out the W.
We landed in Chicago after our game in Toronto on Sunday, so we had a few days there, but I was pretty much sick so it messed a lot up for me. LoL. I still got out a bit and went to North Riverside Mall and I was out west on Madison shopping at Snyx and Topsandbottoms.
Best part is I went to my family's house, and then I got some good soul food at Mac Arthur's off Madison Ave. The rest of the time I was resting up. I really want to finish the season strong.
Right now we are out of the playoffs, but it’s important to keep playing hard so we can show the fans that we care and that we do wanna win, so down the stretch we just wanna play hard and win games and try to build for next years.
We’ve brought in some guys on 10 day contracts like Courtney Sims and Joe Crawford and it’s cool because they both are very good players. Sims just won MVP in the D-League so he is a proven player on the court. And when Joe was in high school he was top five in the nation and the top player in my home state, so he was one of the players I used to watch and I thought he was great!
Unfortunately, one guy we have been missing is Gallo, and it is definitely different. I mean, Gallo is a great player and gifted shooter, so we have to work a lil harder with him out of the line-up. But I’m happy he is doing what he needs to do to get healthy and that the surgery was a success.
I got a lot of great fan questions this time around, so here are a couple of them.
For Marcus from the Bronx – he asked what assistant coaches I work with. That is a really good question. Phil Weber primarily works with me. I mean he does a lot of stuff with me off the dribble shots, spot up shots, post moves, basically everything so I can be a great all around player.
For Richard – he asked what it is like seeing people where my jersey and cheering for me. It is definitely cool to see things like that! I appreciate all the love and support the fans are giving myself and the team, cause we know how hard it is to fight every night and not to have a winning record.
For Jen – she asked since I like movies will I ever consider being an actor. Nah, that’s not me, but you all know how I love to watch movies, so maybe one day I'll consider it. LoL.
Anyway, this week, my movie pick is the new Nicolas Cage flick “Knowing”. It’s a really good sci-fi thriller so check it out and let me know what you think.
Also, just a heads up that I set up a facebook account so you can follow along with me even more and see what I’ve been up to. I’ve uploaded a ton of pictures of me playing over the years on there, and some pictures from this year of plays I am proud of and work that I have done in the community, which means a lot to me too. Let me know what you think of them! I’m new to facebook, so if you have any tips let me know!
You can also go to the NYKnicks official facebook page to find me. There are other really cool links, discounts and other fun stuff on there that I didn’t know about until I signed up.
I’m really enjoying this blog because of all the feedback you guys have given me. It means a lot.
Knicks fans are the best! LoL!

What’s up everybody? Hope you’ve been good.
Just got back from Orlando and I was thinking about another question a lot of you have been asking me about … what is life like on the road?
So let me tell you.
The best part about being on the road is visiting other cities and experiencing different things. I also like being around my teammates more and learning different things about them as far as personality and what they like to do for fun and stuff.
The worst part is when you have to play three games in like four days and have to leave one city late at night, get in late and play that day and then fly back across the country. Not fun! LoL
My favorite city we visit is LA because I like the weather out there, and while we stay in all sorts of different hotels in different cities, my favorite hotel we stay in is called the Peninsula.
No matter what though, there’s nothing better than playing in The Garden. It’s the best ever!
A lot of you want to know about the team plane, and let me tell you, it is really nice. It has lots of good food. While a lot of people sleep, as you might guess, Nate talks the most hands down! A lot of other stuff we do on the flight depends on where we are going. We usually watch movies, listen to music, play cards and joke and laugh a bunch. It is just the usual stuff but its fun though!
I’ve been watching some good movies lately on our flights like Gladiator, Step-Brothers, Revenge of the Nerds 2, and … Nate at All-Star Weekend. LoL.
That brings me to my movie pick. Check out The Fugitive with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Another great flick.
Finally, congrats to the Benton Harbor Girls basketball team for winning the state championship and Destiny Williams for all of her accomplishments. I’m really proud that my high school girls team won states!
Keep sending those great questions and comments!

So the most popular question I’ve gotten for my blog is about my tattoos. I think I have gotten 25 or 30 questions alone about them, so I’ll devote this entire entry to them.
All together, I have 30 tattoos. I was about 17 when I got my first one. It is a cross with a basketball in the middle of it and underneath it says “God Bless This Game.” I got it because of my love for the game.
My favorite tattoo is on the right side of my neck. It says Jaya Dior which from my first blog entry you know is my daughter’s name, who means the world to me. Underneath her name is my grandmother’s name, Olivia. She raised me and is another person who is really special in my life.
Another one I like a lot is a picture of Michigan with my hometown, Benton Harbor, located inside on my lower right arm. It just shows my appreciation and love for where I'm from and to never forget where I came from.
On my hand I have and picture of an eye with the words “All is Well” underneath. It’s supposed to be an angels eye that watches over me, protects me and lets me know that all is well.
On my right arm I have the word “loyal” and on my left arm I have “family” which reads “loyal family”. It’s something me and my friends started a while back. We are like family, basically brothers from another mother, and we are loyal to one another just like family.
I’ll try to get some pictures of these into the next blog entry.
For my movie pick, you have to check out the classic “Pulp Fiction” by Quentin Tarantino. It is such a good movie with an all-star cast. It’s got John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames, Harvey Keitel, Christopher Walken, Tim Roth. It’s a classic movie.
Big road trip coming up for us this week. I’ll check in when we get back.
Keep the questions and comments coming. I love reading all of them.

Hey guys.
Sorry I haven’t checked in for a while, but it’s been a pretty busy couple of weeks.
First off, All-Star Weekend was really cool. I had a great time. So many celebrities and former great players and legends who played the game, like Dr. J, just being around them was just great. I was just having fun. I took a video camera with me and shot a few things, so look out for that soon.
I was also able to hang out with a bunch of people from here who were out there, like Nate, Al and Coach Herb, so that was cool too.
Playing in the Rookie-Sophomore game was a lot of fun. Just to be a part of that was a great experience. When they announced my name during the lineups, it was kind of like any other game, but the atmosphere itself and all, it’s something I won’t ever forget.
When we fell behind, I have to admit I got a little nervous that we were gonna lose cause the Sophomores have such a long winning streak going, but then we started to play and enjoy ourselves and we pulled out the win. Kevin Durant was just ridiculous. He is a great player and will be around for a long time.
Now for Saturday’s Dunk Contest, Nate mentioned to me earlier that he might do this dunk where he steps on me on the way to the basket, but that actually wasn’t what we had planned to do. Like right before our turn, we were going to do this dunk where I throw it off the backboard. But then all of a sudden Nate switched it to the dunk you saw.
At first I didn’t want to do it. But he really wanted to do it and thought it would help him win so I did it for him. To help him win, that was great. I mean, that was my first time experiencing something like that so I had fun.
And I knew he was gonna win. When Dwight Howard missed his first few dunk attempts, I knew Nate had it. He didn’t really have the great ideas that Nate had. Check out this photo gallery NYKnicks.com put together of his best dunks.
Now here is a secret not many people know, but when you saw Nate dunk over Dwight, that wasn’t the first time he did it. Right before the dunk contest, during the three-point shootout, he talked to Dwight and the two of them practiced it to make sure they got all the timing down and stuff. Back in New York, he was practicing by jumping over Jared who is pretty much the same height as Dwight, so Nate knew what he was doing.
I didn’t stay for the All-Star game because I wanted to get back to New York and start practicing, but the whole experience made me want to get even better and be a part of it again, but this time in the big game on Sunday.
We had a pretty big win over the Spurs in our first game back, but the big news was the pair of trades in which we got Hughes and Wilcox. I think it is going to make our team better, but at the same time, it is hard to see friends go.
When Malik got traded, I was getting a massage in the trainer’s room. He came in and said “I’ll see you guys later, I just got traded to Oklahoma City.” Honestly, it was kind of sad because Malik is a great guy and a great guy to hang around. He was a motivational teacher and a family member almost in a sense so it was hard to see him leave, but again, I’m glad that we got a guy like Wilcox in return because I think he is gonna play a role for us down the road.
The other trade we made was Tim Thomas, Jerome James and Anthony Roberson for Larry Hughes. I felt a little bad for Tim, because he was just traded and came back home near where he grew up in Jersey, but to get a guy like Larry, that is a trade you have to make.
This is a business at the end of the day, and to be honest, I am excited about what these two guys mean for the team, but also sad to see friends go.
Alright, time for a couple of fan questions.
For Jack P. - he asked what the highlight of the Rookie-Sophomore game was. Personally, the highlight for me was the dunk I had in the second half. I came across the baseline and just put it home like any other dunk, but my friends tell me the announcers were going crazy over it and that was good to hear. To me, it was just like any other dunk, but it is nice to hear that people took notice of it.
For Sam - he asked if it hurt when Nate jumped off my back. That is a really good question. It didn’t hurt. I laughed a lot actually. But I don’t want to see any pictures of it though! LOL.
Finally, for my movie picks, here are a couple from when I was a kid I think you guys will like. Nate and I were talking about this movie Milk Money. It was so funny. And also, this movie Little Monsters, with the guy Fred Savage from Wonder Years, where he has these monsters under the bed. Haha, I used to watch that one all the time when I was younger.
Keep those questions coming!

Crazy week this week, but I wanted to take just a few minutes to check in so you guys didn’t think I forgot about you.
This week, it’s been tough so far with Kobe and LeBron. I mean, when you’ve got players like that who can score at will, it’s tough.
We’re doing better though. We’ve played well, but obviously we are not where we should be at or can be at. And that is encouraging. You fans, just keep supporting us and we will get there. Those were two great teams that came in, and the Celtics are coming in tomorrow, but we are getting better and we can play with them. These are the best teams in the league and we are right in these games with them. They aren’t blowing us out. Still, we did expect to win. We played hard, but when you have players like that, and players that get excited to play at The Garden, it’s difficult. They get up for these games and try to put on these performances.
This week is definitely cool for you fans, and I think it is awesome what happened on Tuesday at The Garden too with the Rangers retiring Adam Graves’ number. I’ve met him and he is really a great person, and I am really happy that he got honored like that. That is what anybody who plays any professional sport dreams about. And to get your number retired in New York, that is a great thing. He is part of history, and his number will always live in The Garden and no one else will get to wear it. It is cool to look up at all those numbers when you are on the court warming up and stuff, and now his will live there forever next to some of the greatest players to ever play in New York.
I also want to tell you guys about something cool I did on my day off. I went with Nate to that Will Ferrell show on Broadway as George W. Bush that I told you about last week and it was just so funny. It was Will Ferrell being Will Ferrell. He is one of the funniest guys out right now, so it doesn’t get better than that.
It was actually the first Broadway show I have ever seen, and I have got to say it was the best thing I have ever seen live. It was just so funny. It is only playing for a few more weeks, and I am definitely going to see it again. You guys need to check it out. There is going to be an HBO special on it next month or something, so if you can’t make it, at least watch that and then let me know what you think about it.
The cool part is I also got to meet him after the show. We went backstage, and he was giving me a lot of stuff about guarding Kobe. He was trying to give me pointers. LoL. He told me to get low and cut him in half.
I gotta go soon, but I want to answer some fan questions before I have to sign off. A lot of people from outside the US have written in, so I thought I’d go all international on this round of questions.
For Mic Sayer from Melbourne, Australia – he asked if I have ever done any overseas travel. First, thanks for writing and following me all the way across the world. It’s cool that you get to keep up with me on the International League Pass you talked about and it means a lot to me. To answer your question though, the truth is I haven’t. Actually, I’m not just saying this, but I do want to go to Australia. I want to go to Sydney because it seems really cool from what I’ve seen and heard. I also want to go to France, especially Paris, and some countries in Europe.
For Roman Partykowski from Poland – he asked about calling MSG home. First of all, just the history of place, it’s amazing. And then the city of New York, to have these fans, that is very exciting. A lot of fans in other arenas we go to, they are nothing like the fans here in New York. They are always loud and always cheering.
For Claudo from Italy – he asked about how Gallo has been and if it is different to guard a European born player than it is one from America. Gallo, he has been great. He is a great shooter and a great teammate to have on the court. He is gonna have a great future. Now for your second part, it is a bit different to guard a European born player. Players like Dirk, it is hard to explain because players like that are similar but different at the same time. There are so many great players from Europe, and they do have some different tendencies and stuff, but their games have developed and a lot of players who are veterans have adapted a bunch to the NBA.
Finally, for David Kaye, who is also from Australia – he asked me about some of the nicknames I have gotten over the years. This question made me laugh because I have gotten a lot of nicknames. This question made me laugh because I have a bunch. Timmy Thomas cause me “Willie Will”. Allan Houston called me “Chill.” Back in High School, my coaches used to call me “Will the Thrill.” I have also gotten “Ill Will” and “Illson”. I was also just told that some people have started calling me Willie C., which I guess is cool too, but it doesn’t rhyme. LoL.
Now for my movie pick, I am gonna go with “The Dark Knight”. Now I know most of you have seen it, but you should see it again! Heath Ledger is just, I mean, man that was the best performance ever. Rest in Piece. I mean, The Joker - that was the best thing about the movie! The way he did it and how he was always plotting and one step ahead of everyone else, the whole move just kept you guessing. I think he is going to win the Oscar. What do you guys think?
I am really surprised and think it’s cool how so many people like my movie picks. In a couple of weeks I am gonna submit all my Oscar picks for best movie, actor, actress and the other big ones, and you guys can compare with me and we can see who does best.
Now it might be hard for me to check in again soon cause we are heading out on the road and then it is All-Star weekend, but I promise to try to check in even if it is a small entry when I am in Phoenix after my game.
Catch up with you guys soon,
Wilson

Big news this week for you guys. Yesterday I got the call that I’d been hoping to get for a while … I was named to the Sophomore Team for All-Star Weekend.
I was really excited when I got the word. A staff member told me around 11 am. He sent me a message that said “You officially made the Sophomore Team. Congrats, you deserve it.” So I thanked him and I told him I appreciate all the help he has given me. It meant a lot that it was him who told me, as he is someone who has had a big influence on me since I first joined the team. He has really helped me mature and be more confident in myself, and I appreciate that about him.
I can’t even remember the first person I told. I just called everyone! Friends, family, my teammates. Everyone! I am really excited to be playing in the game. Like I said in my last blog entry, after not playing much last year and what both I and the team went through, to be recognized as one of the better young player in the league, it is just, like, wow. It’s special.
I’m looking forward to just playing. Someone pointed out to me that it is going to be one of the first times I will be playing on national TV, and asked if I was nervous, but I’m not at all. It will be fun. Obviously I want to play well and all, but there is not any pressure, although people want to joke that there is after D-Lee had that MONSTER game when he was in it a couple years ago. He was named MVP and scored something like 30 points and didn’t miss a single shot!
It’s kinda funny because I was a sophomore at DePaul at the time and I remember watching him and being amazed at what he was doing. It’s funny to look back at that and now he is my teammate and I’m gonna be playing in it. He told me to go out there and enjoy it, and that he had fun and it was one of the best times of his life.
I’ll be sure to blog from Phoenix during it. I’m gonna bring a camera with me and I’ll try to share that with you guys too. I’ll be hanging with Nate a lot, and Mardy [Collins] will probably come down also. I haven’t seen him since he was traded so that will be fun.
It was also nice to get the call this week because it wasn’t exactly my best. I had a few rough games, and didn’t even score a point in my game against the Sixers. That was kinda difficult to deal with. But players like Q and Malik, they told me just don’t worry about it and how everyone goes through stretches like that. That’s why it’s great to have guys like that around. I mean Nate had a few games like that and now look at him. But even he didn’t go scoreless in a game, lol.
Anyway, coach thought it would be a good idea to bring me off the bench and change things up, and I really trust him, and once again, he was right because I had a really good game against the Rockets. I hit a big three pointer that put us ahead late in the game, and it felt good to take the shot and watch it go in. We are playing really well right now so it’s a lot of fun.
I gotta admit, I am blown away by all the responses I got from you fans out there. I appreciate all the kind words, comments and questions you have for me, so keep them coming! Each blog entry I’ll pick a couple and answer them.
So for Johnny “Baller” – he asked about my dunk over Scola in the Rockets game and what was going through my mind during it. I figured that is something a lot of fans might want to hear about, so here goes. Honestly, I thought Nate didn’t even see me actually. He hit me kinda late, but he’s got great vision. My first instinct was to dunk. I didn’t even see Scola there. But when I finished like that, it was great. My team went crazy! Me, I’m just a laid back guy so I’m not gonna get into it like that too much. But my teammates, they are just always behind me. They are there for me.
For Daniel Valdespino - he asked what my favorite basketball memory is. That’s easy. It was getting drafted. Sometimes, growing up you are like yeah I want to play in the NBA, but as you get older you think and wonder, will I get a chance? I mean, the chances are so slim. So when my name got called and I got drafted, that was the best.
For Keith Hagan – he asked if there is any player I model my game after and if I have a favorite former Knick player? I really don’t model my game after anyone. I just try to play hard and be a great player, ya know? Now my favorite Knicks player. Lol. I’m not just saying this because he works for the team now and all, but it really is Allan Houston. I’ve seen a lot of his games growing up, and he was great.
Alright time for my movie pick. First, let me say that I cannot believe that I forgot Will Ferrell was in “Starsky and Hutch”. A lot of you wrote in to correct me, and it’s kind of funny because almost immediately after my blog went up, Nate came up to me and gave it to me that I forgot about his scene. Nate is a big Ferrell fan, and is actually quite friendly with him. We are planning on seeing him on Broadway in a few days.
Anyway, you should check out the movie “Black and White,” which actually stars Allan Houston. It’s not a comedy, but rather a really serious and emotional movie. It’s also got a great cast with Robert Downy Jr., Jared Leto, Elijah Wood and even Mike Tyson. Check it out and let me know what you guys think about it… especially Allan’s acting!
I’ll catch up with you next week. It’s gonna be a tough one with the Lakers, Cavs and Celtics coming to town, but it should be fun too!
Wilson
P.S. I just saw that my friends at nyknicks.com put up a photo gallery of me from this year. It’s pretty cool. Check it out here. You can even see that dunk I was talking about earlier in case you missed it.

What’s up Knicks fans! This is Wilson Chandler. A lot of my teammates and coaches say I’m the quiet one, and I guess I am, so I thought what better way for Knicks fans to get to know me than to start my own blog and check in once a week?
So here we go.
Things have been going really well for me this year. I’m getting a chance to play. Last year, I was kind of depressed and down a bit because I was wondering why I wasn’t playing. We were having a losing season too.
This year, we are doing a lot better and we are having a lot of fun. Things are really picking up. We have a great coach who is playing me a lot and who I trust and really love to play for. Everything is just better. All the guys love to be around each other, and I am still learning a lot from guys like Q, Malik and Jared. Even the younger guys like Nate and David, and also Gallo, we all are learning from each other and growing together. If we can get a few more wins and get into the playoffs, it would be like the icing on the cake, you know.
Also, I have to say that you, the fans, you have been great. Before, during and after the game, you guys are showing me a lot of support. Even when I am just walking around the city, you guys are giving me a lot of support, and I truly appreciate that. I mean, I didn’t play a lot last year, so it means a lot to have you guys behind me, and I love it. When you ask for my jersey or my sneakers and stuff, it’s something I never experienced before. I wouldn’t want to play for anyone other than you guys.
Off the court, the past few months have been even better. I had a beautiful daughter, Jaya Dior, born on April 11. She was born during the season last year, so I wasn’t there for the birth, which is one of the tough parts of being a pro athlete. But it was one of the most special moments of my life. I love just spending time with her. She is trying to talk now and crawl. When she is on the floor she just grabs everything! She never stops! I just love being around her if you couldn’t tell. I love everything about her. Her smile lights me up and I just want to hold her and be around her. I want to be there for the rest of her life and provide for her. I hope everyone get a chance to have a child and can experience what I am going through.
This week is also a special one because of Barack Obama becoming President. I can’t even begin to say how much this means to me. Just the history of our nation with slavery, and then to have a Black president? I never thought this day would come. Even if you don’t know too much about politics, or even history, it’s a big deal because this is something we thought never would happen, especially in a time like this with so much going bad. For him to get elected -- especially with an economy like this and a war -- for him to get elected and have all of this on his shoulders and be responsible for fixing it, it’s going to be a big task. If he can pull it out and get us out of this predicament we’re in, he will be one of the greatest presidents we have ever seen.
Finally, most of you might not know this, but I’m a big movie buff, so I figured I’d end each blog entry with a movie for you guys to go see. Go check out the underrated “Starsky and Hutch” that came out a few years ago. You’ve got Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, two hilarious guys, and then you throw in Vince Vaughn, so it doesn’t get much better than that, you know what I mean? It’s the ultimate cast right there. Actually, if they had Will Ferrell THEN it would be the ultimate cast, but you know what I mean.
Alright. I hope you enjoyed my first entry. Drop me an email and I’ll check in with you guys next week.
Wilson
