Team Orthopedist One of the senior members of the Knicks' support team, Dr. Norman Scott celebrates his 27th season as team physician in 2004-05... Ably assisted in Knicks duties by Dr. Fred Cushner. In 2004, Dr. Scott returned to Manhattan’s Lenox Hill Hospital, where he had previously served for 14 years as Chief of Implant Services... From 1991-2004, he had served as director of the Insall-Scott-Kelly Institute for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital Singer Division, and also as chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Beth Israel and Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. One of the country's most respected practitioners of sports medicine... Founder (in 1997) and chairman of the Association of Professional Team Physicians (www.proteamphysicians.com), comprised of team doctors from the NBA, WNBA, NFL, NHL and Major League Baseball... Former president of the NBA Physicians Association... Team physician for the U.S. Olympic "Dream Team" at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics, the 1993 USGA Open golf tournament at Baltusrol, and the 1997 PGA Tournament at Winged Foot... Orthopedic consultant to the WNBA Liberty since the team’s inception in 1997...Has also served as team physician for hockey Rangers (1981-87) and football CityHawks (1997-98). Author of 11 textbooks and more than 100 published articles on a wide range of medical subjects... Associate editor-and-chief of the Journal of Arthroplasty... Founding member and past president of the Knee Society... After earning undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, obtained his medical degree from Cornell University. Native of Jersey City, NJ... Wife, Dr. Susan Craig Scott, is a plastic surgeon also based at Lenox Hill, and serves as consulting team physician for the Liberty (assisted by Dr. Charles Melone and Dr. Scott, Susan performed the December 1997 wrist surgery on Patrick Ewing, and has also performed surgeries on Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, John Starks, Charles Oakley and Herb Williams)... The Scotts make their home in New York City with their three children, Eric (29, a Penn graduate), William (19, a student at Cornell) and Kelly (18, who is entering Penn)... Norm's golf game is the stuff of Knicks legend.
