Knicks Sign Ron Howard

NEW YORK, September 25, 2009 – – New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that guard Ron Howard has been signed as a free agent. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Career Transactions: Signed with Milwaukee as a free agent on Sep. 24, 2008…Waived by Milwaukee on Oct. 20, 2008…Signed with New York as a free agent on Sep. 24, 2009.
2008-09 (Fort Wayne – NBA Development League): Averaged 18.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.20 steals and 36.1 minutes in 48 games (44 starts)…Had 20 or more points in 24 games, including 30 or more points in six contests…Recorded three point/rebound double-doubles…Scored a season-high 32 points (15-24 FG) and had eight rebounds in 36 minutes vs. Tulsa, Apr. 5…Scored 30 points and had 10 rebounds and a season-high four steals in 46 minutes vs. Dakota, Apr. 3…Scored 31 points (9-14 FG, 13-18 FT) and had a season-high 15 rebounds in 46 minutes at Tulsa, Feb. 27…Signed by Milwaukee on Sep. 24 and averaged 2.0 points in three preseason games before being waived on Sep. 24…2007-08 (Fort Wayne – NBA Development League): Averaged 11.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.30 steals and 28.5 minutes in 47 games (37 starts) during the 2007-08 NBADL season, also with Fort Wayne…2006-07: Played professionally in Mexico.

Howard, 6-5, 200-pounds, averaged 7.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 17.5 minutes as a member of the Knicks entry in the 2009 NBA Summer League presented by EA Sports. The Chicago native averaged 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.20 steals last season with Fort Wayne of the NBA Development League after posting 11.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.30 steals for Fort Wayne during the 2007-08 campaign. Howard played his final three collegiate seasons at Valparaiso after transferring from Marquette following his freshman year.
