Marbury Named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

NEW YORK, January 3 – The New York Knicks’ Stephon Marbury was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, December 27 through Sunday, January 2.
Marbury led the Knicks to a 2-1 week, averaging 32.3 points on 59.3% shooting, 8.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.33 steals in games against Orlando, Minnesota and New Jersey. Marbury recorded 30 or more points in three consecutive games, becoming the first Knicks player to do so since Patrick Ewing during the 1996-97 season.
Here is a closer look at the week for Marbury:
- December 27 @ Orlando: Had 34 points on 13-of-21 shooting, seven assists and two steals in a 119-111 road victory over the Magic.
- December 29 vs. Minnesota: Posted a double-double of 32 points and 11 assists, and had seven rebounds and two steals in a 100-87 win over the Timberwolves.
- January 1 vs. New Jersey: Recorded 32 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals in a 93-87 loss to the Nets.
