Knicks Sign Jerome James

Free Agent Center Comes To New York

NEW YORK, August 2, 2005 -- New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that center Jerome James has been signed as a free agent. As per club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

James, 7-1, 280-pounds, averaged 4.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.39 blocks in 80 regular season starts for the SuperSonics last season, and in addition, averaged 12.5 points and 6.8 rebounds in 11 NBA Playoff starts. The Tampa, FL-native recorded double-figures in eight of his 11 playoff appearances, and averaged an impressive 17.2 points and 9.4 rebounds versus Sacramento in Seattle's first-round 4-1 victory.
