Knicks Sign Frye & Robinson to Contracts

NEW YORK, July 2, 2005 -- New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that center Channing Frye and guard Nate Robinson have been signed to contracts.

Frye, 6-11, 248-pounds, was selected as the eighth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft by the Knicks and averaged 13.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.94 blocks in 133 career games at the University of Arizona. The 22-year-old White Plains, NY-native earned First Team All-Pac-10 honors his junior and senior seasons and finished his collegiate career as the second all-time leading shot-blocker and third all-time leading rebounder in school history.

Robinson, 5-9, 180-pounds, was acquired from Phoenix on Jun. 28 after he was selected by the Suns after his junior year as the 21st overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. The Seattle, WA-native averaged 14.4 points and 3.3 assists in 89 games for the University of Washington and earned First Team All-Pac-10 honors his sophomore and junior seasons.
