Knicks and The Garden of Dreams Foundation Celebrates Dream Week 2013

Forty children from Garden of Dreams partner organization, SCO Family of Services, participated in a weeklong of activities which incorporated each division of The Madison Square Garden Company at various locations in the tri state area. Dream Week has become one of the Foundation’s core programs to expose New York City’s neediest children to exclusive summer activities outside of their daily environment. One Dream Week participant, Coji, said, “My Dream Week was a dream come true”.

The Knicks hosted their special day on the afternoon of August 14th. The event began with a huge surprise visit from Head Coach Mike Woodson. Coach Woodson spoke with the children and answered questions as well as giving them tips on how to stay dedicated to being a successful student and person. Afterwards, the group headed inside to receive a tour of the Knicks facilities including the weight room, training room, classroom and especially the locker room where each child was surprised with their own personalized Knicks jersey and backpack waiting for them in a locker! After the tour the kids headed on to the Knicks practice court where the children were guided through a series of basketball training and performance exercises from As1 Effect and special guest Knicks Legend, Larry Johnson. After the drills, the children were exhausted, but truly grateful of the opportunity and to get a glimpse as to what it takes to be a Knick.
