Knicks Build Up Excitement Outside Garden
The excitement of Knicks basketball hits the streets around Madison Square Garden early this week with the unveiling of a temporary basketball court, constructed outside the building on Seventh Avenue.
The court was set up as part of the Knicks Week celebration, a multi-day event leading into the team's season-opener on Friday night at Cleveland. Knicks Week continues on Seventh Avenue on Thursday and Friday.
Wednesday's opening day was a rousing success, as men dressed in their business attire as well as children in their Halloween costumes lined the streets, waiting to compete in a wide assortment of basketball activities.
On-court competitions include free-throw, shooting, lay-up and three-point contests, with winners receiving prizes that included a Nate Robinson Growth Chart, hats, magazines, blankets, towels, black baseball hats, and bumper stickers.
Grand prize winners at Knicks Week events will win Knicks Home-Opener tickets, with several pairs given out during the three-days leading up to opening night.
Fans attending Knicks Week on Thursday and Friday will also have a chance to watch live performances by the Knicks City Dancers perform.
Each day's sessions run from 8-10 a.m., 12-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Friday's on-court activity ends at 2 p.m., just a few hours before the Knicks tip-off their 2007-08 season at 7:30 p.m. against the Cavaliers.
Limited tickets are still available for the Knicks' home opener on Sunday, Nov. 4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
