Knicks Sign Three Free Agents
Adams, Blackshear & Carroll Invited To Training Camp

NEW YORK, September 29, 2003 - New York Knickerbockers President and General Manager Scott Layden announced today that rookie guards Tommy Adams, Ronald Blackshear and Matt Carroll have been signed to contracts. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Adams, 23, is an NBA rookie who played four years at Hampton University. The 6-3, 205-pound guard finished his collegiate career as the Pirates seventh all-time leading scorer with 1,597 points and averaged 19.8 points during his senior season of 2001-02 - finishing second in the MEAC. This past summer, Adams played for the Atlanta Hawks entry in the Reebok Pro Summer League in Boston and averaged 8.8 points and 2.0 assists and hit 10-of-21 from three point range (.476) in six games off the bench.
Carroll, 23, is an NBA rookie who played four years at the University of Notre Dame. The 6-6, 212-pound guard finished his collegiate career as the Fighting Irish’s sixth all-time leading scorer with 1,850 points and as the school’s all-time leader in three-point field goals made (301), games played (133) and games started (125). This past summer, Carroll played for the Knicks entry in the Reebok Pro Summer League in Boston and the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City and averaged 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds in 11 games, with five starts.

Blackshear, 25, is an NBA rookie who played two years at Marshall University after his freshman season at Temple. The 6-5, 210-pound guard averaged 20.3 points for the Thundering Herd during his junior season of 2002-03 to rank 35th in the nation and sixth in the MAC.
