2009-10 New York Knicks Schedule Announced

NEW YORK, August 4, 2009 – The New York Knickerbockers will open the team’s 64th season of NBA basketball on Wednesday, Oct. 28, on the road, facing the Eastern Conference-rival Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena at 7:30 p.m. The team’s home-opener at Madison Square Garden is on Saturday night, Oct. 31 against the Philadelphia 76ers with a 7:30 p.m. tip.

New York’s regular season home schedule is highlighted by a visit from the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, Jan. 22, one visit by the Eastern Conference Champion Orlando Magic on Sunday, Nov. 29 and one appearance by the Los Angeles Clippers and the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, Blake Griffin, on Friday, Dec. 18. Special holiday matinee home games include a Christmas Day game versus the Miami Heat on Dec. 25 and the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day game versus the Detroit Pistons on Jan. 18. The team will play six total afternoon games at home.

Prior to the 82-game regular season, New York will participate in seven preseason games, including three at Madison Square Garden, plus a return of the Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv on Oct. 18. Tickets for the preseason home games at MSG go on sale Thursday, Sep. 3 at 9:00 a.m. and can be purchased at the Madison Square Garden Box Office, nyknicks.com, (800) 4NBA-TIX and Ticketmaster outlets. The preseason schedule will be released later this month.

MSG Network, television home of the New York Knickerbockers, will telecast all 82 regular season games, and all seven preseason games. The broadcast team of Mike Breen and Knicks legend, Walt “Clyde” Frazier, will be back for their seventh season together.

Media Day is scheduled for Monday, Sep. 28 at Madison Square Garden Training Center in Greenburgh, NY, followed by a return to Saratoga Springs, NY for training camp.
