NYK 90, WAS 88: Melo Scores 19, Thomas' Late Game Free Throws Secure Win

How It Happened: In a back-and-forth battle, the Knicks narrowly defeated the visiting Wizards 90-88 on Monday evening.  After Washington outscored New York 29-19 in the second frame, the Knicks rallied in the third period and held the road squad to just 12 points.  With the game tied at 88-88, Lance Thomas utilized a pump fake to draw a foul with just 0.2 seconds on the clock.  Thomas calmly nailed the two free throws and secured the Knicks second straight preseason win.

Knick of the Night: Carmelo Anthony continues to look sharp as he poured in 19 points in 25 minutes of court time.  The All-Star hit 7-of-11 from the floor and drilled 4-of-5 shots from downtown.

Stat of the Night: This game featured 15 lead changes, 6 times it was tied, and the longest run was 10 points.

Notables: Head coach Jeff Hornacek started Willy Hernangomez at the center spot.  Hernangomez is the third different center Hornacek has used in place of Joakim Noah in the preseason.  Noah expects to make his Knicks debut on Saturday night.

News and Notes: Noah and Derrick Rose did not play tonight at MSG.

Next Up: The Knicks will take advantage of four days off from game action before their next preseason contest.  On Saturday night at the Garden, New York will play host to the Celtics.
