Fruitful drafts yield talent for N.Y. over the years
(1983) With the 12th overall pick in the NBA Draft, the Knicks select guard Darrell Walker from the University of Arkansas.
(1988) With the 19th overall pick in the NBA Draft, the Knicks select guard Rod Strickland from DePaul University.
(2005) Knicks select forward Channing Frye (University of Arizona) with the eighth overall pick and David Lee (University of Florida) with the 30th overall pick in the NBA Draft. Also, acquire guard/ forward Quentin Richardson and draft rights to guard Nate Robinson (University of Washington) from Phoenix in exchange for Kurt Thomas and draft rights to Dijon Thompson.
(2006) Knicks select forward Renaldo Balkman (University of South Carolina) with the 20th overall pick and guard Mardy Collins (Temple University) with the 29th overall pick in the NBA Draft.
(2007) Knicks acquire guard Dan Dickau, guard Fred Jones and forward Zach Randolph from Portland in exchange for guard Steve Francis and forward Channing Frye.
