New York adds future 6th Man of the Year Anthony Mason

(1946) Knicks sign Long Island University guard Ossie Schectman, who would go on to score the first basket in NBA history.

(1991) Knicks sign free agent forward Anthony Mason, who spent the previous two seasons with the Nets and Nuggets. Mason would play five seasons in New York (1991-92 – 1995-96), averaging 9.9 points and 7.7 rebounds in 395 regular-season games and nine points and 6.5 rebounds in 71 postseason games. He earned NBA Sixth Man of the Year honors for the 1994-95 season.
