Knicks Read to Achieve@powertolearn.com Summer Reading presented by Kia Motors

On Monday, July 19th, the New York Knicks along with Cablevision’s Power to Learn Program and Kia Motors teamed up to present the “Summer Reading Program” at the Seaford Library in Long Island. Knicks Alumni John Starks, Congressman Peter King, along with Kia representatives, District Parts and Service Manager Dan Pawlowski and District Sales Manager Robert Pace were in attendance to support over 50 families from the community.

To motivate and encourage families and youth to engage in reading activities together, Starks and Congressman King read David A. Adler’s Cam Jansen and the Basketball Mystery with the help of a few courageous youth. After the reading, the children took the Post Card Club quiz that was designed to help strengthen their reading comprehension skills. “The purpose of this program is to instill a life-long love for reading and literacy in the youth,” said John Starks.

In addition, this fun filled event had various raffles that gave the children an opportunity to win Liberty tickets, books, and other prizes. The day culminated with pictures and an autograph session with Starks and Congressman King for the youth and their families.
