Official Rules
MADISON SQUARE GARDEN’S LAST MAN STANDING ONE ON ONE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT, presented by McDonald’s® (the “Tournament”) begins May 24th, 2007 and ends August 19th, 2007. Tournament is open to legal US residents of NY, NJ and CT, 19 years of age or older who are in good health. Void where prohibited by law.
Sponsors: Madison Square Garden, L.P. and McDonalds Corporation
HOW TO ENTER: Limit one (1) entry per person, regardless of method of entry. There is a non-refundable Twenty Five Dollar ($25) fee to participate in the Tournament (the “Participation Fee”). All proceeds shall be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities® of New York.
Entry by Mail: Send the printed registration form or a postcard containing the participant’s first and last name, address, city, state, zip code, daytime and evening phone number and date of birth to: New York Knicks, Attn: Madison Square Garden’s Last Man Standing One on One Basketball Tournament, 2 Penn Plaza – 14th Floor, New York, New York 10121. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by May 20th, 2007 and received no later than May 23, 2007.
Registration Night: On May 24th, 2007 between 6PM and 9PM (“Registration Night”), go to the McDonald’s located on 946 8th Avenue at 56th Street, New York, NY and submit your application. Tournament application will be reviewed and potential participants will be asked to submit their first and last name, address, city, state, zip code, email address, daytime and evening phone number and date of birth.
McDonald’s Corporation, Madison Square Garden, L.P, the New York Knicks (“Sponsors”), the National Basketball Association and its member teams, NBA Properties, Inc. (the "NBA Entities"), and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, governors, employees and agents, their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each, shall not be eligible for entry. Sponsors are not responsible for late, stolen, lost or illegible entries or for typographical or other errors in the printing of this offer or administration of this Tournament.
ELIGIBILITY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. This Tournament is open to all legal US residents of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, 19 years of age or older, in good health (as determined by Sponsors). All Tournament participants will be required to sign a Release prior to participation in the Tournament and any on-court activity. Tournament winners will be required to sign and return a notarized Affidavit of Eligibility and Waiver/Release (“Affidavit”) within 48 hours of receipt of such Affidavit in order to collect their prize. Employees of Sponsors, Cablevision Systems Corporation, CSC Holdings, Inc., the NBA Entities, and their respective advertising and promotion agencies and their immediate family members and persons living in the same households of the above are ineligible to participate in this Tournament. The term "immediate family" shall mean spouses, parents, siblings, children, grandparents and grandchildren. This offer is void where prohibited and subject to all federal, state and local laws. Any disputes shall be resolved by the Sponsors as final judges. Qualified participants may not belong to any of the following groups: 1) Current or former professional basketball players; 2) Current Division I, II or III collegiate basketball players; or 3) Former collegiate basketball players that have any college eligibility remaining.
SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS.
The first six hundred (600) applicants who meet the eligibility requirements as set forth in these official rules, subject to verification by Sponsors, and who submit the Participation Fee on Registration Night will be entered into the Tournament. If less than six hundred (600) qualified applicants register for the Tournament on Registration Night, as determined by Sponsors, Sponsors may hold another registration event to collect additional entries, in their sole discretion. Should Sponsors determine that no or too few eligible entries have been received, Sponsors reserve the right to cancel the Tournament.
Only those applicants who meet the Tournament’s eligibility requirements (the “Participants”) will be contacted by Sponsors on or around June 1, 2007 via phone, email or mail with further instructions. If a potential Participant is unreachable or does not make direct contact with Sponsor by a date specified, or is unable to fulfill any entry requirements, their spot in the Tournament will be forfeited in its entirety and an alternate Participant will be selected from the remaining eligible entries.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT.
Regional First Round. Participants shall be randomly placed into five (5) regional McDonald’s Tournament locations (the “Locations”). There will be a maximum of one-hundred and twenty (120) participants per Location. Participants at each Location shall compete in a single elimination tournament (“SET”). A maximum of the top twelve (12) participants per Location will qualify to advance to the second round comprised of the top sixty-four players from first round regional play (the “First Round Winners”).

6/9/07 - McDonald’s - 265 Nassau Road, Roosevelt (Long Island) NY – 1PM to 6PM
6/15/07- McDonald’s - 2516 White Plains Road, Bronx, NY – 4PM to 8PM
6/16/07 - McDonald’s - 840 Atlantic Ave. (at Vanderbilt Ave) Brooklyn, NY – 1PM-6PM
6/30/07 - McDonald's - 1900 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, CT – 1PM-6PM
7/13/07 - McDonald's – 215 West 125th Street (Broadway/Harlem) New York, NY – 4PM-8PM
Semi-Final Second Round. The First Round Winners will participate in the SET on July 28, 2007 at the McDonald's located at Vauxhall Plaza, NJ Parkway N, Exit 141, Union, NJ. The top sixteen (16) Participants of the second round will qualify to advance to the Final Round at Madison Square Garden (the “Finalists”).
Final Round. The Finalists will participate in the SET at Madison Square Garden, on August 19, 2007.
Other.
Professional referees, scorekeepers and timekeepers will be officiating all games.
Individual SET games will be played until a SET game Participant scores a minimum of seven (7) points or the SET game is played for a maximum of ten minutes (10:00). If such SET game reaches the ten-minute (10:00) mark and no Participant has scored seven (7) points, the Participant with the most points after ten minutes (10:00) shall be declared the winner of such SET game.
Each field goal made from the three-point line will be worth 2 points. All other baskets will be worth 1 point.
Each Regional First Round participant must win a minimum of 3 games before becoming eligible to advance to the Semi-Final Second Round.
All participants guaranteed 2 games before elimination.
Semi-Final Second Round and Championship Final Round tournament both single elimination format.
In the event of a tie score after ten minutes (10:00) has elapsed, an additional one minute (1:00) “sudden death” round (“Tie-breaker”) shall be played. Possession during the Tie-breaker shall be determined by a coin toss and the first Participant to score in the Tie-breaker will be deemed the winner. There will be as many Tie-breakers as necessary until a winner has been determined.
PRIZES.
Each Tournament Participant will receive a Last Man Standing reversible uniform, provided by GameOver, consisting of a tank top & mesh shorts, and a gift bag Approximate retail value (“ARV”) - $25 per set.
First Prize: Only one (1) First Prize will be awarded. First prize-winner will receive Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), a Tournament championship ring (ARV $600), Four (4) tickets to a basketball event held at Madison Square Garden (to be determined by Sponsors) (ARV $500), and the opportunity to participate in a personal workout session at the Madison Square Garden Training Center located in Tarrytown, NY (ARV $1,000). Total ARV of First Prize $7,100.
Second Prize: Only one (1) Second Prize will be awarded. Second Prize-winner will receive Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00)
Third Prize: Only one (1) Third Prize will be awarded. Third-prize winner will receive Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00)
Each Participant accepts and agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsors, which shall be final and binding in all respects. By participating in the Tournament, each Participant consents to the use of his/her name and/or photograph for advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation by Sponsors and/or the NBA Entities. No substitution, cash equivalent or transfer of prizes (except at the option of Sponsors for a prize of equal or greater value). Odds of selected Participants depend on the number of eligible entries received. All federal, state and local taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the of the prize winner(s). Winners will be required to complete and return to Sponsors a W-9 tax form prior to collection of a prize.
This Tournament is void where prohibited and subject to all federal, state and local laws and any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the State of New York, New York County. All entries become the property of Sponsors, who are not responsible for incomplete, late, stolen, lost, damaged or misdirected mailed entries, postage due, illegible or mutilated mail which prevents user’s ability to participate in the Tournament or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this Tournament or for typographical or other errors in the printing of the offer, administration of the Tournament or in the announcement of the prizes. Sponsors reserve the right to cancel, suspend or modify the tournament, or any part thereof, at their sole discretion or if there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering, fraud or technical failure which may destroy the integrity of the Tournament as determined by the Sponsors, in their sole discretion and, in such event, to select winners for any remaining prizes by randomly drawing from among all valid entries received, up to such time of cancellation, termination, or suspension, and/or solely from the mailed entries.
Winners agree that Sponsors, the NBA Entities, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents shall not be liable for, and winner shall hold such entities and individuals harmless against any and all liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described), with respect to or arising out of (i) participation in the Tournament; or (ii) the receipt or use of the prizes awarded in the Tournament including, without limitation, injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from participation in this promotion or from the acceptance or use of the prizes awarded. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. All federal, state and local laws apply. By entering, each entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsors, which shall be final and binding in all respects.
Use of Data. Sponsors will be collecting personal data about entrants, including first and last name, street address, phone number, and email address. Information collected online on the New York Knicks website, shall be in accordance with the New York Knicks’ online privacy policy, which can be found at www.nba.com. Please also visit the privacy policy found on www.mcdonalds.com. By participating in the Tournament, entrants hereby agree to Sponsors’ collection and usage of their personal information and acknowledge that they have read and accepted Sponsors’ privacy policies.
