Garden of Dreams Presents “Pay it Forward”

Over 200 children gathered at the Children’s Aid Society Dunlevy Milbank Center to take part in the event where MSG celebrity guests surprised the children to distribute Garden of Dreams backpacks filled with school supplies. Celebrity guests on hand for the event included Garden of Dreams Board Member and legendary hip hop artist Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, The World Famous Radio City Rockettes, New York Rangers legends Adam Graves and Rod Gilbert, New York Knicks player Jason Kidd, NBA great Baron Davis, Knicks alumni Cal Ramsey, John Starks and Larry Johnson, the Knicks City Dancers, and New York Liberty mascot, Maddie.

The event kicked off with an energetic introduction of the celebrity guests and an incredible performance by the Knicks City Dancers that brought excitement that lasted throughout the fun filled afternoon. After the performance, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels spoke about the importance of paying it forward and giving back to the community.

Following the impactful message by Darryl McDaniels, all of the celebrities joined to distribute school supplies to every child in attendance. Each child received notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, calculators, rulers and other supplies for a successful school year. After the children received their supplies, they participated in various activities alongside their new friends from The Madison Square Garden Company. Outside on the playground, the Knicks Groove Truck hosted basketball activities for the children with Baron Davis, John Starks and Larry Johnson while the Rangers Road Tour hosted street hockey games with Adam Graves and Rod Gilbert. Inside the Milbank Center, the Knicks City Dancers and the Radio City Rockettes each held dance classes to teach the children their respective dance routines while Darryl McDaniels held a singing workshop for a talented group of boys and girls.

At the conclusion of the event, the children walked away with smiles on their faces and backpacks filled with brand new school supplies.
