Kings Unable to Close Pacers

An electric start pushed Sacramento out to an early lead, clicking on all cylinders en route to a 60-point first half.

DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay combined for 35 points at the break while the team as a whole shot a blistering 64 percent from the floor. Cousins hit on 7-of-10 field goals for 19 points, 10 boards and dished five assists. His efforts helped lead the squad to an advantage as large as 22. Stifling defense held Indiana to just 41 first half points, allowing just one double-digit scorer in Al Jefferson.

Unfortunately, the team was unable to replicate their effort in the second half. They struggled to find the basket and hit on just 12 total field goals in the final 24 minutes of play. Holding onto an eight-point lead going into the final frame, the Pacers forced three clutch turnovers, earning themselves a lead they wouldn’t relinquish in the final two minutes of play.

By game’s end, the team was outscored 26-7 in fastbreak points, 23-14 in points off turnovers and 35-21 in the fourth quarter.
