Exum is best known for his play in the 2013 U-19 World Cup Tournament. Exum scored 20 points and dished out six assists against Russia in an elimination game. He then had his best game on the international stage, helping his U-19 Australian team upset top-ranked Spain, 87-76, on July 5. At the time of the tournament, Exum was just 17, but that didn’t stop him from scoring a game-high 33 points on 9-for-18 shooting, going 12-for-13 from the free-throw line. Exum averaged 25.5 points per game, 44.6 percent shooting, 4.8 assists, 4.0 rebounds in the final four games of the tournament.

Quotes:

“He is skinny, but he is explosive, possessing a dynamic first step that will allow him to get into the lane. He's already an extremely creative passer. His shot is a work in progress, but scouts said it has improved in the last year, to the point where he could be a combo guard in the pros.” - David Aldridge, NBA.com

“Exum has the potential to be a dynamic defender. His quickness and lateral movement enables him to stay with smaller point guards while his size gives him the versatility to defend at the two or three. His size also helps him rebound the ball well at both ends of the court.” - Jim Coughenour, SB Nation

“If you’re an NBA general manager with an Exum fascination, you’re no doubt more fascinated by the idea of what Exum could be, with his 6-6 frame and 6-9.5 wingspan, than by what you’ve actually seen.” – Sean Deveney, Sportingnews.com

“An athletic and intelligent guard with great size, Exum has drawn comparisons to Penny Hardaway and Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams of Philadelphia. Though there's been speculation about his NBA position (largely because of his size), those familiar with his game -- and Dante himself -- are adamant that he's a point guard.” – Jeremy Woo, SI.com
