-– Community event will raise awareness and funds for 14 local non-profits --

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Oct. 8, 2012 -- The Sacramento Kings Foundation and presenting partner Wells Fargo, in cooperation with 14 area non-profit organizations, will host the inaugural Rhythm ‘N Rims community event at Power Balance Pavilion on Sunday, October 28, which will feature a full day of festivities that include a 5K walk, evening reception, basketball-related activities and a concert – all directly benefiting local charities.

“Wells Fargo is proud to be the presenting partner of Rhythm ‘N Rims,” said David Galasso, Regional President of Wells Fargo for Northern and Central California. “As a community bank we are proud to align ourselves with great organizations that are helping make a difference in the Sacramento community.”

In addition to Rhythm ‘N Rims presenting partner Wells Fargo, a host of corporations have already signed on as sponsors for the event, including:

Jiffy Lube Subway Restaurants Sactown Magazine
CBS Radio Bella Bru The Sacramento Bee
Western Health Advantage Pizza Guys Muscle Milk
Metro PCS E. & J. Gallo Winery California Family Fitness
Pepsi Coors Light Classic Party Rental
Chipotle Made in the Shade All My Best & AAA

“We are honored and proud to be teaming up with such a diverse group of corporate sponsors and local non-profit organizations,” said Sacramento Kings Senior VP of Sales & Marketing Jeff David. “It is the Sacramento Kings Foundation’s hope that the awareness and money raised from Rhythm ‘N Rims will help continue to propel these organizations and all of the outstanding work they do in our community.”

The event will tip-off with a morning 5K walk that will pair each non-profit organization with a Kings player or coach serving as their honorary team captain. Non-profits are encouraged to recruit and build their own teams to raise funds for their cause. The general public is invited to walk on behalf of any one of the participating organizations. All monies raised will go directly to the 14 charities.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the inaugural Rhythm ‘N Rims event,” said WEAVE Executive Director Beth Hassett. “In these tough economic times, the money raised for WEAVE will provide critical intervention services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Sacramento region. We can’t thank the Sacramento Kings Foundation enough for helping us meet this pressing need.”

In addition to lively music and an entertaining atmosphere along the 5K walk route, participants will have a chance to enjoy entertainment, interactive booths, basketball activities and food once they cross the finish line. Later in the evening, the Kings will join corporate partners to host an exclusive VIP reception, including a meet and greet with Kings players, an auction, hosted bar and appetizers.

To culminate the event, fans will be treated to an exciting evening of festivities, including a mascot dunk contest, 3-point challenge, Kings “black vs. purple” scrimmage and additional basketball-related activities. A live concert will be available to the general public for a small donation made to the Sacramento Kings Foundation.

“Rhythm ‘N Rims will provide us the exposure and platform we need to ensure that all children in Sacramento County have access to affordable, comprehensive health coverage,” said Cover the Kids Executive Director Kelly Bennett-Wofford. “With an estimated 27,000 low income children and teens going without health coverage in Sacramento County, even though nearly all are eligible for subsidized programs, this event will really help us reach families in need. We appreciate the Sacramento Kings Foundation for organizing such an inspiring event that will undoubtedly benefit so many people throughout our community.”

Rhythm ‘N Rims tickets are available via and the Power Balance Pavilion Box Office. For more information about Rhythm ‘N Rims, the 14 participating non-profit organizations and details on how to register, visit or contact Debbie Gabelich at 916-928-8170.
