Maloof Sports & Entertainment and Wells Fargo Team Up to Present 10th Annual "Season of Giving"

-- In conjunction with NBA Cares “Home for the Holidays” efforts, Maloof Sports & Entertainment and Wells Fargo are collaborating to spread holiday cheer in Sacramento --

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Dec. 16, 2011 -- Maloof Sports & Entertainment and Wells Fargo have partnered with the NBA Cares “Home for the Holidays” campaign to host a series of charitable events to brighten the lives of children and families in the Sacramento region during the team’s annual “Season of Giving.”

“This year we will be celebrating our 10th annual ‘Season of Giving,’” said Joe Maloof, co-owner of the Sacramento Kings. “Giving back to those less fortunate in the Sacramento community is very important to our family and that commitment is shared by everyone at Maloof Sports & Entertainment. We are proud to partner with organizations like Wells Fargo, who are as committed to making a difference in the community as we are.”

Beginning December 18, Kings players, Slamson, Sacramento Kings Dancers, Wells Fargo and volunteers from Maloof Sports & Entertainment will team up for four days of fun-filled, holiday-inspired, charitable events benefiting children and families in need throughout the Sacramento region.

In addition to the events listed below, Maloof Sports & Entertainment and Wells Fargo will donate 100 bicycles and helmets to children from St. John’s Shelter Program for Women & Children during halftime of the Kings vs. Chicago Bulls game on Dec. 29.

Shriners Hospital Visit

Sacramento Kings players DeMarcus Cousins, Jimmer Fredette, Isaiah Thomas, Tyler Honeycutt and Jason Thompson as well as Slamson, Kings Dancers, Maloof Sports & Entertainment Team Members and Wells Fargo will make a surprise visit to the Shriners Hospital for Children to spread holiday cheer, host a pizza party courtesy of Pizza Guys and provide goodie bags for the kids.

Holiday Shopping Spree

Sacramento Kings players Tyreke Evans, Donté Greene, Francisco Garcia and Chuck Hayes as well as Slamson and Kings Dancers will join Kings partners Wells Fargo and Arden Fair Mall to host 30 kids from Big Brothers Big Sisters for a shopping spree at Arden Fair Mall.

Kings Preseason Game

The Sacramento Kings will invite 30 kids from the Big Brothers Big Sisters shopping spree and their families to the Kings vs. Golden State Warriors preseason game. A video feature from the Shopping Spree event will be shown on the KingsVision Jumbotron.

Holiday in a Box

Sacramento Kings players J.J. Hickson, John Salmons, Hassan Whiteside and Marcus Thornton as well as Kings Dancers and volunteers from Wells Fargo will distribute boxes of food to more than 200 families in need from various local non-profit organizations including St. John’s Shelter Program for Women & Children, La Familia Counseling Center, Sacramento Building Healthy Communities and the North Roseville REC Center. Kings partner VSP Vision Care will be on-hand to provide families with gift certificates redeemable for a free comprehensive eye exam and eyewear at a local VSP doctor's office. Additionally, families will be invited to tour a state-of-the-art, 45-foot VSP mobile eye clinic during the event. Part of the VSP Mobile Eyes program, the transportable clinic features a state-of-the-art exam room with a dispensary, and travels across the U.S. to provide care to those in need.
