KINGS TIP-OFF 2012-13 SEASON WITH 'BLACKOUT' HOME OPENER AGAINST GOLDEN STATE AT SLEEP TRAIN ARENA
SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Nov. 1, 2012 --– The Sacramento Kings today announced several fan-friendly embellishments to the team’s “blackout” home opener against the Golden State Warriors on Monday at Sleep Train Arena.
In addition to a variety of fan giveaways, Monday’s game will include the most elaborate player introductions in franchise history. Choreographed by Kings Entertainment and Game Operations Departments, the pregame pageantry showcases more than 50 extras cast to enhance the opening sequence—a spectacle intensified by 10 CO2 tanks of theatrical ground fog (fueled by six cryogenic generators), 25-plus pyrotechnic bursts and flame generators affixed to each basketball stanchion.
Fans will be greeted at the entrances with complimentary “Blackout” T-shirts, a collectable Opening Night lapel pin and a pair of LED Thunderswords.
Fresh off a successful run to the finals on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” showcase, world-renowned artist and Kings Season Ticket Holder David Garibaldi will perform at halftime. Garibaldi achieved national acclaim long before his appearance on AGT, known internationally for a genius use of color transformed in minutes by an entertaining, eclectic style exhibited for audiences from Sacramento to Barcelona.
The team also plans to unveil its “Shield of Defiance,” one of six Kings artifacts located throughout Sleep Train Arena symbolizing the value of protecting home court advantage and continuing Sacramento’s long-standing reputation as one of the toughest stops for opponents in the NBA. Located near Section 101, the “Shield of Defiance” is a replica of similar body armor stationed outside the Kings lockeroom, where players have established a new tradition of touching the shield prior to taking the court.
Less than 1,000 tickets remain for the “Blackout” Home Opener and inventory is expected to sell very quickly, so fans looking to join in the festivities are encouraged to visit Kings.com/tickets or call 888-91-KINGS today.
Sacramento defeated the L.A. Lakers in thrilling fashion before a sold-out crowd in last year’s season opener, the first of two exciting wins by the team when wearing its alternate black jersey.
