KINGS “BE SMART, PLAY SMART” SCHOOL FUNDING CAMPAIGN REACHES EARLY MILESTONE

--Led by Head Coach Keith Smart, five percent of all new ticket sales will help fund local schools--

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Aug 30, 2012 -- The Sacramento Kings announced today the team has reached an early milestone associated with its Project Assist objectives by generating more than $50,000 to fund math, science, art and fitness programs in schools throughout the greater Sacramento region.

Led by Head Coach Keith Smart, the Be Smart, Play Smart campaign pledges five percent of all new ticket sales until the start of the 2012-13 season to support vital curriculum taught in local schools. Today’s announcement arrives only two months following inception of the program, allowing eight additional weeks before the season commences to meet an organizational goal of doubling the revenue available for schools.

The early contribution tally was made possible due to a successful week of Open House “Select-a-Seat” events, where thousands of fans funneled through the arena to secure their seats for the upcoming Kings season. A full slate of community and ticketing events will continue for the final two months of the Be Smart, Play Smart donation period, allowing fans an opportunity to guarantee great seats to the best matchups while supporting the campaign.
