DMC to Take 50 Children on Shopping Spree

--Kings center will join volunteers from Wells Fargo to host shopping spree at Walmart Supercenter in West Sacramento on Tuesday--

Who: Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, 30 kids from St. Johns Shelter Program for Women and Children, 20 fourth-grade students from Washington Elementary School and volunteers representing the Kings and Wells Fargo.

What: Cousins enlists his support of the Kings 11th annual Season of Giving efforts by chaperoning 50 kids as they dash through Walmart during a holiday shopping spree, helping kids browse for gifts, posing for photographs and signing autographs. Each child from St. John’s Shelter and Washington Elementary will receive a $200 shopping allotment.

Additionally, Wells Fargo will surprise each family in attendance with an additional $100 gift card. As part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving campaign, the Kings host several charitable events scheduled throughout the holiday months

The Sacramento Kings 11th annual Season of Giving continues the organization’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. In recognition of this sustained effort, the team was one of 24 companies recently honored by the Sacramento Business Journal as a 2012 “Partner in Philanthropy.” Kings partners Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, Von Housen Automotive Group, Bank of America, Sleep Train Inc. and Synergex International were also acknowledged as Partners in Philanthropy.

Season of Giving festivities continued on Saturday when Jimmer Fredette, Thomas Robinson, Isaiah Thomas and Jason Thompson visited patients at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Sacramento. Players and volunteers delivered gifts and spent time with kids and their families. Season of Giving festivities tipped-off on November 19 at Trinity Life Center in Sacramento, where Tyreke Evans, Isaiah Thomas, John Salmons, Francisco Garcia, Chuck Hayes, DeMarcus Cousins and Travis Outlaw joined members of the Kings Women’s Organization and served more than 500 Thanksgiving meals to underserved families.

Tuesday’s shopping spree is the second of six events in December associated with the team’s Season of Giving efforts. Visit Kings.com/community for more information.
