KINGS BROADCASTER BIOGRAPHIES

In 1993, the Sacramento Kings made the decision to bring all of the club’s broadcast activities inhouse, forming what is currently known as the Kings Broadcasting Network. In addition to producing all of their own radio and television broadcasts, the Kings retain all advertising revenue from the broadcasts.

Broadcast
The club’s broadcast network also produces all pre- and postgame radio talk shows and one additional weekly radio show.

KXTV (News10) is the Kings Flagship TV Station. The Kings Television Network also includes KRVU-TV (Channel 2) serving Chico and Redding.

KHTK Sports 1140 AM is in its ninth season as the club’s flagship radio station. Joining the 50,000 watt powerhouse on the ever-expanding Kings Radio Network will be stations in Auburn (KAHI-950 AM), Red Bluff (KBLF-1490 AM), Fresno (KCBL-1340 AM), Marysville (KMYC-1410 AM), Grass Valley (KNCO- 830 AM), Redding (KNRO-1670 AM), and Merced (KTIQ-1660 AM). Kings home games also air in Spanish on KRCX (99.9 FM) in Sacramento.

Grant Napear and Jerry Reynolds call the Kings action on KXTV (News10). The longtime radio voice of the Kings, Gary Gerould, will handle play-by-play duties on KHTK (1140 AM), which will broadcast all of the Kings games this season. Additionally, Armando Botello will call Kings home games in Spanish for the eighth season on KRCX (99.9 FM).

GARY GEROULD
Radio Play-By-Play

Gerould
Entering his 24th season with the Kings and having called 1,821 Kings games, Gary Gerould has been the "Voice of the Kings" since the team's arrival in Sacramento (1985) as radio play-by-play announcer on the club's flagship station KHTK (1140 AM). Gerould is widely considered one of the best play-by-play announcers in all of sports broadcasting. Game 7 of the 2004 Western Conference Semifinals versus Minnesota marked Gerould's 1,500th Kings broadcast. He is among the top 10 in longevity among NBA broadcasters.

Gerould's workload is a direct testimony of his talent and work ethic. In addition to his basketball duties with the Kings, he currently works the $50 million NHRA drag racing tour for ESPN Television. This follows 25 years of covering the Indy car circuit as a pit reporter for world-wide events, including the Indy 500. He has been a part of more than 1,400 nationally televised events.

Gerould was a member of the Turner Broadcast Network telecast of the 1990 Goodwill Games in Seattle. Prior to joining ABC, Gerould spent 11 years at NBC and was a member of the network's coverage team at the XXIV Olympic Games in Seoul. He also served as a regular NFL play-by-play announcer in addition to his motor sports duties.

Gerould's broadcasting career dates back to his high school days in Midland, Mich., as a play-by-play announcer for the local radio station. In 2000, he was inducted into the Midland Hall of Fame. A speech and physical education graduate of Anderson (Indiana) University, Gerould headed west to Chico, Calif., in 1963 where he became the news and sports director at KHSL Radio.

In 1965, he moved to Sacramento and joined the sports department at KCRA-TV, where he worked for 12 years. During that span he also was the play-by-play announcer for Sacramento State football and basketball. In 1977, he formed Gary Gerould Enterprises and since then has freelanced as a public relations consultant, commercial spokesman, and motor sports writer and broadcaster.

He and his wife, Marlene, have a daughter, Beth, and a son, Bob, who also enjoys a career in professional sports broadcasting.

GRANT NAPEAR
Television Play-By-Play

Napear
Grant Napear enters his 21st season announcing for the Kings, serving as the television play-by-play announcer for the Kings Broadcast Network. The 49-yearold Syosset, New York native has called Kings action as the team's play-by-play announcer from 1988-89 through 1993-94 and 1998-1999 to present, in addition to three campaigns (1995-96 - 1997-98) as the Kings radio play-by-play announcer on KHTK (1140 AM). He is the current daily host for the top-rated afternoon sports talk show in the Sacramento area on KHTK.

Prior to joining the Kings Broadcast Network talent team on a full-time basis, Napear served as the sports director at the then-Kings flagship television station, Channel 31, for nine years (1987-95). Napear's play-by-play experience includes working with ESPN Radio, the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks, the Sacramento Gold Miners (1992-94), a former member of the Canadian Football League, and most recently with the San Jose Sabercats of the Arena Football League. Napear was the television voice for the Oakland Raiders from 2003-07. He is currently a fill-in host for the nationally syndicated radio Jim Rome Show.

Napear began his professional career as a weekend sports anchor at WAND-TV in Decatur, Illinois. He spent his collegiate years (1977-81) as the play-by-play announcer for the football, basketball and hockey teams at his alma mater, Bowling Green University, while pursuing his degree in broadcast journalism. Napear hosts an annual golf tournament to benefit the Future Founderation which enables underprivlidged students to attend college. Napear resides in Folsom with his two sons, Trent (11) and Chase (9).

JERRY REYNOLDS
Television Color Analyst / Director, Player Personnel

Reynolds
In his 24th season with the Kings organization, Jerry Reynolds serves as the club's director, player personnel. He was named to the position in July of 1994 after serving two seasons as the team's general manager. Reynolds is responsible for keeping abreast of both the professional and collegiate talent pools available to the Kings, while also helping to oversee the club's scouting efforts.

Reynolds, who wears many hats within the organization, retired from his post as general manager of the WNBA's Sacramento Monarchs following the 2003 season. In his six seasons as the club's general manager, the Monarchs qualified for the league playoffs four times. Reynolds was a member of the USA Basketball Women's Senior National Team Committee for the 2001-04 quadrennium, where he helped select the coaching staff and players of the Olympic gold medal-winning USA Senior National Teams.

Reynolds is also a member of the Kings Broadcast Network talent team, working as a color analyst for all the club's televised contests.

A native of French Lick, Indiana (where he is often referred to as the second most popular local, first being NBA Hall of Famer Larry Bird), Reynolds has a unique understanding of the interaction among players, coaches and the front office due in part to his experience gained through his varied roles with the Kings organization. He originally joined the club in 1985 as an assistant coach responsible for advance pro and college scouting.

On two occasions Reynolds served as the Kings head coach following midseason changes. In 1987, he was named, on an interim basis, to replace former Head Coach Phil Johnson. The following year he took over for Bill Russell with 24 games remaining and stayed on as the club's head coach for the next two seasons. All told, Reynolds served as head coach of the Kings for a portion of four seasons (1987-1990). He also served as the director of player personnel for two seasons (1990-92) before accepting the role as the club's general manager (5/92-12/93).

An extremely popular figure with both the Sacramento community and the national media, Reynolds is an often-requested favorite on the public speaking circuit. A graduate of Oakland City University (Indiana) in 1966, he received his master's degree in physical education from Indiana State University in 1970.

Reynolds and his wife, Dodie, reside in Roseville and have a daughter, Danielle, a graduate of Santa Monica College and son, Jay, a 1992 graduate of Sacramento State University.
