Chucky's Take-vs. Los Angeles, Game Two

Brown Chucky
A 12-year veteran of the NBA, Chucky Brown is the newest member of the Kings, and easily one of the team’s most experienced players. Brown has seen and done it all when it comes to professional basketball, including winning an NBA championship, which he accomplished in 1995 with the Houston Rockets. For the rest of the season, Kings.com is proud to present Chucky’s Take, a series in which Brown gives his thoughts and opinions after every Kings' home game.

We came out and didn’t wait for them to bring it to us, we took the fight to them like we should have, because we were down 1-0. We just played with a sense of urgency.

Our guards were able to come off the screen and roll with success tonight. Mike shoots the ball so well (I call him the new Iceman) and doesn’t seem to be rattled by anything, even when teams try to play him physically. And then Bobby is just a ball of fire, and played like that tonight. They were able to get open looks off the pick-and-roll and hit their shots, which was the difference.

As far as Kobe goes, you could tell that he wasn’t as aggressive early on. He sat out a lot, but he still looked good playing. I think the IV’s really helped to get the fluids in his body. I knew before the game that he was going to play, because Michael Jordan is his idol, and if Jordan could play sick in the Finals, why not him? He’s a great player though, at the top of the league, but I think the sickness did affect him early in the game.

Heading down to LA, our mindset is to at least split there. I repeat, at least split. But we’re really going to go there and try to win two games. Why can’t we do it? We haven’t lost on the road yet in these playoffs, so we are just going to keep that frame of mind and try to win both down there.

Right now, no one is in control of the series. If they had gone up 2-0, they would have definitely been in good shape, and it would have made our job a whole lot harder. But it’s even now and Game Three is going to be a big game.
