Kings win 119-107
Box Score || NBA Recap

Head Coach Reggie Theus

Head Coach Reggie Theus“Obviously offense carries you a long way, but when it’s all said and done we held them to 17 points in the fourth quarter and that is what won the game for us. We had a lot of guys play well but the energy level defensively was tremendous in the fourth quarter. Rebounding – obviously in the second half we did a great job with that. No turnovers in the fourth quarter. I thought that it was business-like tonight in terms of back to back, playing a game against a team like that; I thought the way the game was being called it was difficult to get the flow going but yet our guys fought through it. I thought Brad (Miller) was having a rough night but he fought through it physically in terms of, I thought he was getting fouled down there but he fought through it so that’s why I think that he was able to stay in the game also.”

When asked how impressed he was with Beno Udrih’s performance:
“Well that’s what we’re looking for. We have great confidence that Beno can handle the job – that’s why we keep going to him. Good decisions. As long as he’s aggressive coming off the pick n roll you can play different styles of game because you can play the pick n roll game with Beno. You can also run sets and he’s understanding more and more what it is that we need to win the game. Defensively I think his defense has been just as good too.”

Ron Artest

Ron ArtestOn tonight’s game:
“The main thing is that we won. That is the only thing that is important. We are not worrying too much individually but more as playing as a team.”

Playing against Mike Bibby…:
“It was fun to see him over there and playing well. I want to see him do well. Now he is re-energized and when Mike is hungry, there aren’t many people that can stop him. He is going to help the team.”

Spencer Hawes’ development…:
“Spencer has become more aggressive. Before he didn’t shoot turn-around jump shots but now he’s become more aggressive and rebounding. He’s really getting in there and actually getting to the rim. That is going to help his career.”

Francisco Garcia

Francisco GarciaPreparing to play against Mike Bibby…:
“Mike is going to be Mike no matter what. You can’t prepare for a guy like Mike. It feels good to see him again. I just hope that he gets healthy; he looked a little hurt out there.”

Kevin Martin

Kevin MartinFourth-quarter play…:
“Fourth quarter is usually our lockdown quarter on the defensive side. As long as we keep doing that we will be fine.”

Fastbreaks…:
“That’s (fastbreaks – 27 points) what we needed to do to win. Especially against a team like Atlanta, since they like to hold teams from getting fastbreaks. I felt that we took advantage of that and that’s a big part of the reason we won tonight.”

Playing against Mike Bibby…:
“It was different. Mike did a lot of great things here, and you have to remember him for that.”

HAWKS

Head Coach Mike Woodson Head Coach Mike Woodson
Comments on why they gave up so many points:
“I don’t know if they were ready. At some point we need to get back to defending and rebounding the ball. The last two games we have given up 122 and 119 points. We scored enough to win. But we are not going to win many games if we are giving up that many points. Our bench came in and scored and played well. They did what they needed to do. But our starters need to put forth a better effort on defense.”

Comments on the wrist injury to Acie Law:
“It could be a broken wrist. We will get results of the MRI.”

Mike Bibby Mike Bibby
Comments on how it felt to be back in ARCO:
“It was good. It made me smile. It is the first time it has happened to me, so it was a little awkward. The fans were a big part of me being here and I appreciate that."

To the fans:
“Thank you guys. I love you and I always will.”

On what he sees in his new team:
“They played really well. They are going to be okay. It is going to take a little bit of time with them. My first practice was for like five minutes, and then we had to play the Lakers. We are a young team and it is going to take a bit for us to gel together.”
