Cap City Kingdom Events
February 24, 2014
Kings fans had the opportunity to hang out at the arena for Kings Draft Day. Cap City Kingdom members were privileged to sit in the lower bowl for an up-close view of the festivities and guests. Former Kings player Mike Bibby attended, too, and earned a rousing ovation!
I love getting the opportunity to hear interviews with Kings players in a non-media setting. Here’s Isaiah Thomas sharing his thoughts with fans during Kings Draft Day.
How awesome would it be to play on the same court as the Kings? Really awesome, right?! The Kings gave CCK members the chance to improve their basketball skills by attending a bball camp. We learned drills and played a full-court game.
Here I am with the coaches who ran the drills at the bball camp. I have to say, the drills were no joke! I got a really good workout. Kings Gamenight Host Scott Freshour attended the event, too.
We have some serious basketball knowledge in this photo. Jerry Reynolds and Henry Turner give CCK members a lesson on the ins and outs of hoops during this Basketball 101 event.
Not only did CCK members learn more about the game, we also had a chance to see how the training staff keeps players healthy and fit. There sure is a lot of preparation that goes into what we see on-court!
Anybody remember Jim Les? I sure do! I recall finding this former Kings guard featured in my basketball card packs as a kid. It turns out he is now the coach of the UC Davis basketball team. During Basketball 101, he schooled all of us on the game.
Whenever there’s an event for CCK members, these markers designate it’s the place to be!
CCK members had a chance to learn the finer points about beer at River City Brewing Company. The Kings brought in a beer specialist from UC Davis and provided all attendees with a sampling of appetizers and beverages, including PURPLE beer!
Hey, it’s Coach Malone! The Kings held a CCK BBQ at Raley Field, and it was a beautiful summer day for all of us to get together and hang out. Coach Malone was kind enough to say ‘Hi’ and take some photos.
After the BBQ, fans were treated to a Sacramento Rivercats game. The guest of honor that night was Coach Malone, who threw out the first pitch.
Slamson found his way to the Rivercats game, too. He was up to his usual tricks and interacted with fans in attendance. He looked quite at home amongst the baseball crowd!
Kings fans filled up Raley Field for an exciting night of baseball. We love basketball, but having a little baseball in the mix is nothing we would ever complain about!
One may think the act of picking up season tickets would be simple. Not with the Kings. The organization made picking up Season Access Cards an event to remember. CCK members arrived at Dome Printing to find food, VIPs and entertainment!
Here’s Jerry Reynolds at the unboxing event at Dome Printing. He shared how awesome it is to have the Kings staying in Sacramento. Jerry is a very funny guy, and his warmth and humor were in effect as he took the stage.
It’s Doug Christie! Doug attended the Rhythm ‘N’ Rims charity event hosted by the Kings in October. Fans like me had a chance to take a photo with him and get his autograph. He couldn’t have been nicer!
There were all sorts of fun things to do at Rhythm ‘N’ Rims, which took place near the Capitol. Kings fans had a chance to shoot baskets in giant hoops and participate in additional activities.
Kings Team Stores have popped up around the Sacramento region, and earlier this season, one of the locations featured a very popular Ben McLemore autograph signing.
I went super early to the signing event because I knew fans would come out in droves to see Ben. Here’s the Kings rookie set up in the store ready to sign autographs!
Did I mention Kings fans would attend in droves? Here’s proof! As I exited the signing, I saw just how long the line had gotten to see McLemore that day. It definitely pays to show up early!
An event I really loved was the free photo session. CCK members had the opportunity to take a photo on the court with Slamson and Kings Dancers. We also enjoyed hot chocolate with marshmallows!
The nachos were piled high and the cheese kept flowing. The Kings definitely treat their season ticket holders well, as you can see by these happy Kings fans!
So excited to be a part of the family!
