Being in the hospital is never any fun, especially when you’re a kid.
That’s why the Sacramento Kings and Monarchs, along with the Sacramento Kings Dance team, Slamson and Team Member volunteers from Maloof Sports & Entertainment put on a holiday party at Shriners Hospital for Children last week.
To have fun.
The surprise visit was part of Maloof Sports & Entertainment’s seventh annual “Season of Giving,” which consists of a series of charitable events and projects aimed at making a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of children and families in need.
For kids who don’t have a lot to smile about because of their hospital stay, the day was filled with laughter as Thompson and Greene danced in the middle of the lobby.
Monarchs player Rebekkah Brunson and assistant coach Monique Ambers along with Kings Dance Team members visited with the patients, posing for photos and handing out holiday goodies. When Thompson and Greene finished dancing, Slamson picked up where they left off.
“Some of these kids aren’t going to be home with their families for the holidays, so it’s a great feeling to spend time with the kids, and show them the support and love we have for them,” said Thompson.
Additional “Season of Giving” events this holiday season include holiday shopping sprees hosted by Kevin Martin, Bobby Jackson, Brad Miller and Spencer Hawes and the donation of a “Holiday in a Box” to 200 deserving families.
