Thanks to Mike Bibby, the holidays will be a little brighter this year for some Sacramento-area children.
Bibby treated 25 kids from Roberts Family Development Center to a holiday shopping spree at Target in Natomas. At the shopping spree, Bibby posed for photos with the kids and signed autographs, and handed out additional gift bags, which included basketballs and other Kings items.
Roberts Family Development Center provides services with a holistic approach to families in the North Sacramento community. Their services focus on early childhood and family education, economic empowerment and technology with the goal of nurturing personal growth, strengthening families and enhancing community development and civic involvement.
In the truest spirit of giving, many of the children wanted to purchase gifts for family members rather then themselves, even though they had the chance to get anything they wanted. Some of the children’s purchases included baby dolls, iPods, a bike, DVDs and gaming systems. “I’m glad the kids had fun and are able to get some extra gifts. It feels good to be able to give back,” said Bibby.
Maloof Sports & Entertainment’s sixth annual “Season of Giving” consists of a series of charitable events and projects as part of an ongoing effort to make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of children and families in need throughout the Sacramento community. Starting in early December, Kings and Monarchs players, members of the Sacramento Kings Dance Team, Slamson and volunteers from Maloof Sports & Entertainment participate in two weeks of charitable giving and holiday fun benefiting children and families throughout the region.
