The Rest is Still Unwritten for the Kings

Following a tough loss to the Clippers in the final home opener at Sleep Train Arena, the Kings season did not start as the team and fans would have hoped.

Natasha Bedingfield, a pop artist best known for her Grammy-nominated album Unwritten, performed at half time in front of a sold-out and loud Sacramento crowd.

Joining her was accomplished producer and songwriter Brian Kennedy, who has worked with many top acts such as Rihanna, Ciara, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson.

Following their halftime performance, Bedinfield and Kennedy joined the crowd courtside to watch the Kings mount a second-half comeback and an exciting back-and-forth fourth quarter.

“You could feel that there was so much energy and tension,” said Bedingfield, describing the scene at Sleep Train Arena.

“The environment was unbelievable,” said Kennedy, who was making his first visit to Sacramento. “It was like energy at its highest peak for me. I’ve performed in different places but I’ve never felt energy like this. It was like a rush of energy and it didn’t stop.”

The 17,458 in attendance tonight made their presence known as the Kings took a lead in the fourth quarter after trailing by as much as 11. Sacramento would come up just short of victory, but both Bedingfield and Kennedy offered words of encouragement for the team as the season goes on.

“Like every song, you start off with an idea and a concept and then you grow,” said Kennedy. “You just have to keep moving and keep building. Like a track, you have to keep adding drums and keep adding music to it. In comparison, you have to keep building and keep thriving.”

“I think that every story needs to have twists and turns,” Bedingfield said. “Like it would be a very boring story if you didn’t win some and lose some. I can feel from the energy that there’s a lot of high hopes.”

The Kings started off the season on the losing end, but as Natasha Bedingfield once said, “the rest is still unwritten.”
