Preview: Kings (2-5) at Raptors (4-1)

The final matchup of a lengthy five-game road trip happens today for the Sacramento Kings. They hope to cap off their week away from home with a victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Last night in Milwaukee, the Kings weren’t able to run with the Bucks, stumbling 117-91. All three Sacramento rookies, however, did make their debut in yesterday’s game. Malachi Richardson, Skal Labissiere and Georgios Papagiannis combined to score 13 points off the Kings bench.

The Raptors enter the daytime matchup with a 4-1 record, with recent victories coming against the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and Denver Nuggets. They have been led this season by DeMar DeRozan, who happens to be one of the league’s leading scorers. DeRozan is enjoying a breakout year, averaging an astonishing 35.8 points per contest for Toronto.

Key Matchup
DeMarcus Cousins matches up against Jonas Valanciunas in today’s game. Valanciunas had trouble containing the Kings All-Star last season as Cousins averaged 25.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two contests versus Toronto. Considering he played just 28 minutes on Saturday against the Bucks, the Olympic Gold medalist should have plenty in the tank for today’s meeting with the Lithuanian center.

Did You Know?
The Kings biggest win ever against the Raptors came on November 14, 2003 when Sacramento won at home by 30 points, 94-64.
