Preview: Kings (15-22) vs Pistons (18-21)

Sacramento looks to return to the winning column as the homestand continues versus the Detroit Pistons.

Much has changed with the Kings recent play. The team has lost five of six after reeling off five victories in the six contests prior. Sacramento has found themselves trailing by double-digits in each of the previous three games, unable to rebound from the deficits and eventually falling in each outing. Additionally, Sacramento’s offense has struggled mightily with DeMarcus Cousins averaging 18 points over his last three, down from his 28 per game on the season.

The team now turns their attention to a Pistons team that has won three of their last four, with center Andre Drummond instrumental in the team’s success.

Detroit is most recently coming off of a victory versus the Portland Trail Blazers. They defeated Portland at the Moda Center in double overtime as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s game-winning three sealed the contest. Reggie Jackson finished with a team-high 31 points while Drummond recorded 14 rebounds in the team’s second consecutive one-point victory.

While still early in the season, this game is of immense importance to both teams' Playoff chances. For the Kings, it’s an opportunity to break a three-game skid and gain momentum before the schedule thickens with Cleveland, Oklahoma City and an eight-game road trip on deck. For Detroit, tonight’s contest is important with Golden State, Utah and Los Angeles ahead to close out their five-game road swing.

Key Matchup

Drummond and Cousins face off in a battle of the center position. Boogie tallied a 32-point per game average versus the Pistons last season while Drummond averaged 14 points and 14 rebounds.
