Preview: Kings (8-13) vs Knicks (12-10)

Winners of four of their last five games, the New York Knicks will face the Kings just five days after their last meeting. Sans Derrick Rose in the team’s most recent contest, New York fell handily to the reigning champions, 126-94. The Knicks are 3-6 away from Madison Square Garden, but secured a victory over the Miami Heat in their last road game.

In Sunday’s outing against New York, Sacramento trailed by as many as 21, but mounted a comeback with an impressive third quarter run. Poor shooting by Sactown along with efficient play by NY’s guards pushed the game out of reach despite the Kings holding stars Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony to just 35 combined points.

Meanwhile, Sacramento is fresh off a rout of Dallas on Wednesday night, with the team’s monster second half sparking a 31-point win. Five Kings scored in double figures while the squad as a whole shot 56 percent while holding their opponents to 41 percent from the floor and just 37 second half points.

Sactown looks to continue the winning in the rematch versus New York.

Key Matchup

Once again, Sacramento must limit Knicks leading scorers Anthony and Porzingis. In quarters one through three of Sunday’s meeting, the team held the duo to just 22 points before the two combined for 13 in the final frame to seal the deal.

Did You Know?

Only once in the past 20 seasons have the Kings been swept by the Knicks, with Sacramento holding a 23-15 advantage in that timeframe.
